Personally, I prefer the search and destroy method. I might be able to do about 35 wpm.

I used to do 2 fingers (hunt and type), then 4 fingers (as I got used to the keyboard layout) then I got to 6 fingers.
Never did learn to type with the whole home row method.

You mean to say their's a method for all this madness !!!!!!!!
I'm still trying to figure why the letters don't go from A-Z ( I think I could find them quicker and easier that way )

They are mixed up for us touch typists so we can balance the work load between both hands. If they were in alfabetical order one hand will end up doing all the typing...Sorry (really I'm not, but) sorry...

Balance the work load for old typerwriters so they don't jam by having letters used the most away from each other.
Dvorak's layout has the most common letters on the home row and that's what I am using now. Its pretty good I think.

When took my Frotran class I had to type the code on to a ticker tape, run the tape throught a reader that punched cards. I would then wait my turn at the compter. When it was my turn I would put the stack of cards on the hopper to run the program I had devised. Then and only then would I learn of the bugs in the programming!!

Dust, I remember punching cards for Fortran when I couldn't even begin to type. Luckily a friend had a VERY attractive cousin who could type and ... Well, I guess that would be totally off topic...

Dust, actually I learned a number of things from her, but typing wasn't one of them. Sorry, off topic again!
