Glad you guys like the pictures - thank you...
I just finished a 221 Fire Ball a couple of weeks ago but never had the time to take pictures of it. I had also cut a rim counterbore for the use of 357 Maximum brass for a 221 Fire Ball - Rimmed. Reports back from the customer said that Hornadys 50 gr. V-MAX was producing consistant groups of 1/4" for 5-shots at 100 yards when fired from a bench....

After 2-days of shooting, I finally have two loads that were developed for the BARREL STUBBED 243 Winchester shown in the above post...
One thing that I learned was that this gun does not like flat based bullets nearly as well as what it does boat-tail bullets...
Second, with the barrels twist rate of 1-14", this barrel also does not like bullets over 75 gr. in weight. That's perfectly all right though as the customer stated that the heaviest bullets he would be shooting was 70 gr...
Target #1 / load data:
CASE: W-W 243 Winchester - MATCH PREPPED
PRIMER: Federal 210 MATCH
POWDER: VARGET / 45.2gr
BULLET: Nosler 55 gr. Ballistic Tip
VELOCITY: 3,822 fps.
.......................................................................................................
Target #2 / load data:
CASE: W-W 243 Winchester - MATCH PREPPED
PRIMER: Federal 210 MATCH
POWDER: VARGET / 42.4gr.
BULLET: Nosler 70 gr. Ballistic Tip
VELOCITY: 3,707 fps.
.......................................................................................................
Target #3
.......................................................................................................
All targets were measured outside to outside minus bullet diameter...
Chronograph data was measured at 15 ft. from the muzzle and was an averaged reading of 5-shots...
As a side note here though, I don't know of anyone else out there that likes a 243 Winchester and more than I do, as far as non wildcat cartridges go but, if this were my gun, even though it shot as well as what it did, I would have set it up for a "rimmed" cartridge and based it off the 307 Winchester case. This is just my own personal thoughts and opinion. I do however think that the customer this gun is going to will be more than pleased with the results that were achieved with this particular gun. I will have to admit that in all honesty, I did not expect this gun to shoot as well as what it did. I was expecting 3-shot groups to be hovering around the 1/2" to 3/4" mark but, when they started going into 1/4" groups, I was very suprised to say the least ....

D-S, if that's the best you can do...
Honestly you've shown us some great looking work and are obviously getting great results! Thanks for sharing!
