Hey guys...The ol' man is going to learn something new. For the last 20 years or so all I've ever loaded were jacketed bullets.
Well I've decided to take the plunge (cost of jacketed bullets made me do it) and load plated bullets. Right now I'm playing with 124 grain plated HP (9mm X 19) and 185 grain plated HP (.45 ACP). All are Rainier bullets. Right now I'm using W-231 and Power Pistol. Will be getting some WSF on the recommendation of one of my other friends (no body get jealous now). Anyone here have any or better ideas. Just plated bullets please...

Bushy, I'm very interested in your results because I was getting ready to order some too. Seems my cast bullet guy (Valiant Cast Bullets) has disappeared.

I've been running Rainier 147 gr. RN bullets in my 9MM IDPA pistol for about four years.
For action shooting they are more than accurate. If your shooting bullseye you might not like them.
If your looking for a new powder, try Hodgdon Titegroup. I use it in 9MM, 40 cal and 45 ACP. It's clean and soft shooting.

Thanks Chambered. All my guns are "all steel" and heavy. Soft shooting isn't a problem. Accuracy is. I don't shoot any competitions. I just compete against myself...

I'll let you know, Pumpkinslinger. As soon as the rain stops and I get my outdoor chores done...
Already loaded 50 rounds of 9mm. Power Pistol. 124 grain PHP at 5.2, 5.0 and 4.8 grains. Federal cases and WSP primers. I'll check for accuracy and run them through the chrony...

I have loaded plated for sometime now and your loads for the 9mm are right on with mine Bushy.
I can't help there, because you are spot on for good accuracy using Power Pistol.
I get good results with W-231 and 9mm, but Power Pistol gives me better accuracy.
Your powder drops for the grains of bullets are exactly what I use.
For the .45ACP, I shoot 185gr Rainier Flat Point Plated, and 185gr Berry's SWC Plated.
Here are the loads that I use for accuracy:
Rainier 185gr Flat Point Coated--5.8gr--W-231 Powder-WLP primers--COL 1.245"
Berry's 185gr SWC Plated--5.6gr--W-231Powder-WLP primers--COL 1.225"
Bushy,
Check out Precision Bullets Web Page.
These are the "Black Cast Bullets"
They are much more accurate than any other bullet that I have found.
They weigh EXACTLY right on.
I just ordered 1000 200gr SWC for $99.00, and this includes shipping.
They are about 8wks out on their orders, but communicate well with customers.
When I run out of my Berry and Rainier supply, I will only shoot the Red River Cast that I get from my local gun shop, and the Precision Bullets.
Give me a PM if you need more info Bushy.
One thing that I'm on top of, is accuracy for all of my guns, especially, the .45ACP
