Who makes the best bulk 5.56 ammo out there? I am strongly concidering taking my brother in law up on getting a AR15 for $700... would like to see what the best bulk ammo mfg is. I heard I think Wolf? should be avoided due to it being very dirty.

I shot a lot of the Black Hills .223 when I had my Mini 14. It's not the cheapest but it shot well and I didn't have any issues with it.

Anyone but Wolf brand. I would check out Cheaper Than Dirt or Midway. Take care...

For what it is worth.... all .223 bulk ammo is hard to come by these days.
I have had no problems with Wolf in by Bushmaster 1:9. 62's of 55's both shoot well.
For match grade ammo Black Hills all the way. I shot some Ultramax from Cabela's and the Prvi 75gr match loads from Midway in my 1:7 match gun and they shot OK but my handloads were better.

I've used the Georgia Arms .223 "factory reloads" for plinking, etc. I've heard enough mixed reviews on Wolf to avoid the centerfire stuff although their .22 LR Match (actually made in Germany I think) is VERY good.

Bought a large case of Norinco 223 a few years back..
2400 cartridges for $225 made it less than 10c each
problem is they are all FMJ and pulling them out is a b!tch of a job.
But the existing loads are very consistent when I use 55gn el cheapo pellets from eBay.

gun-deals
Check out this site for a feel of what is available.
.223 is getting harder to get and the price for the mil-spec 5.56 stuff is double what it was just a couple of years ago.
AR15.com has a good forum for people who shoot a lot of different surplus ammo and they can give you some good input too.
