I've spent a lot of time around shooting ranges, gun clubs, and gun shops. Just when you think you've seen it all, someone does one better.

So my question is, what have you seen that made you laugh or wonder why we don't have more firearms related fatalities.

I was at the range one day breaking in a new rifle, so I'd shoot a couple and clean the barrel. Three people show up in a BMW, yuppies of course. Don't get me wrong, I like BMW's. It was a dad, his son and the son's girlfriend. So they get out an AK-47 type rifle.
The dad tells the son to fill up the 30 round clip and show her how to shoot it. The son shoots a couple time explaining how to operate it...then he gives it to the teenage girlfriend. She holds on the 100 yrd target and touches a couple rounds off.
Then it happens...the boy says to her "shoot as fast as you can a lot of rounds" so she listens and starts letting them fly well the gun is kicking and the aim point keeps getting higher. I started hearing the shots going over the backstop and down through the valley. I know that there are farms past the gun clubs property. I packed up my stuff and just stared at the idiot dad there watching the whole thing.

Was this at a range or just out in the sticks someplace? They would have been removed from any range I go to.

No, it was at a gun club range.

same here.. If I see em, out they go.. and I make sure that they never be back unless they pass the safety course again..

They would be arested at the range I go to.

These folks would have been immediately forced off the range and lost their membership at my club. When this happens, the loss of membership is permanent. Take care...

While stationed in Hawaii, I frequented the police pistol range. It was open to the public when not being used for official practice. There was a tour company that specialized in bringing Japanese tourists to the range to shoot a few rounds. One day as I was banging away with my 45 a group of about 20 tourists showed up, chaperoned by two guides. Having seen this sideshow before, I packed my stuff and left.

Upon returning the next day there was a large ugly stain on the asphalt firing line. I asked the range master what happened? He told me about the Japanese man that had a 45 jam. Instead of waiting for the tour guide as he had been instructed, he attempted to clear the jam himself. During the process of clearing the jam he turned the gun toward himself and it discharged. Despite the lifeflight helo, he was DOA at the hospital.

A few years ago I was at a Cowboy Action match and a "competitor" was pulled from the line and told to go home. I didnt see exactly what she did but a handgun was involved and I was told that rounds were going everywhere. Luckily no one was hurt.

At our range we are expected to police ourselves. However, who wants to approach a moron with loaded gun?

shooting range i go to is a multi thousand square mile forest and i thing the stupidest thing ive seen is the moutain man holding a beer while shooting a .44mag last sunday

ARRESTED ???? Do you guys have Police on your range Hoffy? They certainly deserved someone ripping them a "new one", then kicking their butt till their nose bled, followed by being forcibly hurled from the range, thats for sure. Absolute bloody morons...the father and son that is...the young lass didn't know any different.

The day my hometown's finest invaded the public range where I shoot. First off, they wanted to chase off all the paying customers. The range officials said "No way!" Next, I saw some bad gun safety and handling.
