Second day of season.

Notice its missing its head. Laughing

Some after school woodies from a jump.

Oats field honkers.

2 man limit in the oats.

Evening after school with 3 guys.

Another night after school.

My first banded goose, I was so pumped to get that band on my lanyard I forgot to get a pic with it on the goose. In this pic its already on my lanyard, notice the bumbed look on my face.

Early season goose our crew hit them pretty good. 73 geese all runnin traffic. After early season we kinda let the geese be for a while and started pickin on the ducks and are poundin those harder than we did the geese.

If you got any pics post em up.

wow ive been gone for some time and i missed a good waterfowl topic. ah well. Sad
well our hunting season wasnt to great, we only got 11 geese the whole season and only about 100 ducks each with my dad.

at one time we had to crawl and roll over 200 yards to sneak up on the geese which were in a big ditch. haha, u guys should have seen us, Very Happy 2 grown men and an 18 year old rolling around in a field with loaded guns, safe? i dont know, fun? oh yeah! when we were close enough boy did we ever give em a good time! they drooped like sacks of hammers. one almost landed on our hunting partner! now that was a sight! Shocked

this season we hunted lakes in a 50 mile square around southern manitobi and i ve got to say either them ducks and geese are already scared shitless of us or some animal lover scares em away before we get to them because there arent a lot of em around.

many people say that waterfowl hunting in manitoba is great, yeah it is if all farmers would let u hunt on their property, like geez were doing em a favor.

ok thats my hunting update how have u been doing?

Sir Eric how about u guys come over to manitoba next season with ur son then we can exchange some good hunting stories! just a suggestion! Very Happy

Weinbender

A four man limit this morning (24). This was just one of those days that was meant to be. We havent shot squat for ducks in a month and figured one day it will click and everything will go right.

It started out just me and my buddy, we had the main point on the lake and 1 of the only 3 spots out there. We got out there at 2 AM wtf . We had several groups of hunters come in on us early but sent them away. Finally the last group came on the lake about 30 minutes before shooting time and headed strait for us. They saw us and turned away but for some reason we asked them to come and join us for the morning. Turned out they shoot leagues at the gun club me and my buddy work at and we knew who they were. Needless to say everything when perfect. Buffies, goldeneyes, mergansers (wasnt my choice they made me Laughing ) a goose, and a mallard.

Nice shooting addict,

i envy you, i always forget to take my camera along to take pictures of what we shoot,
mostly we de-feather them right at the spot we hunt so we have less of a mess to clean up at home.

ive got to say ive never gone hunting as early as u did, we can only hunt 30 minutes before sunrise until 30 minutes after sunset so 2:00 am wouldnt make much sense over here.
tho we all know that the darker it is outside, generally the better the hunting.

i also think ur back limit is greater than ours, wouldnt know why,
ducks=8 a day 16 in possesion
only 4 canvas back or redheads allowed within the 8 duck limit per hunter.
we go over the limit if we feel like it though!

happy hunting to u guys, our hunting is done, theyre all gone

Dan

We cant shoot until a half hour before sunrise either but we had to get out there at 2 AM to get the spot.

ahh i see u have the overcrowding problem, thankfully there arent a lot of waterfowl hunters around these parts, surprisingly, and if there are they sure arent messing with our hunting spots.

my dad and some greenhorns(never shot a gun in their life) went out rabbit hunting, the creeks are all frozen over here soo much that we can walk on them no problem. was sure funny how an unexperienced shooter blows back from a normal 12 gauge shotgun! when i told em that my .300 mag kicks back harder then that and is louder they wussed out, not that i would let em shoot it. that gun is my pride and joy, well plus my Luigi Franchi semi-auto 12 gauge w. 30" bbl. full choke.

Happy hunting,

Dan

The first Merganzer that I shot, my Dad had me pluck it.
About half way through the plucking, and with me gagging to the point of puking, my Dad, laughing, let me off of the hook.

I think that Ben has heard this story quite a bit, and didn't bring any of the stinky birds home.
He was lucky on that one. Very Happy Very Happy

These idiots Dan, were in the blind at 1:00am EVERY morning to get the spot.
I remaind at home. Even in my younger days, a person couldn't pay me to sit in a blind at 1:00am.
