With the rise in fuel prices, will it affect any of your hunting plans this fall?

Personally I will burn almost double the fuel as I did all of last year hunting... on two hunts alone. I drew Wyoming Pronghorn and I drew a Deer tag on the Colorado border which is a 6.5 hour drive away. Of course when I put in for these tags I had no idea fuel prices would be this high... and the tags are worth alot of money so I guess I gotta bite the bullet. Shocked

No effect on my plans. I'll just have to tighten the wife's food budget Laughing

Prices will only delay how long it takes to put the cash on the counter. It will just take longer to count out the Penny's. I can't take too long counting out the bill because the price might go up while I do the counting.

I think it is time to hunt down the overpaid oil company executives and have a talk about prices. No accountability is causing the increases not shortages.

I just made a trip to Pennsylvania for a ships reunion and managed to get in a groundhog hunt, visits to Cabela's, Gander Mountain, and the Keystone Country Store and a stop for chocolate at Hershey while there, so good planning helps stretch the dollars.

Fuel cost will be high this year, one yearly Deer hunting trip is 3600 miles when all said and done. The gas bill on that trip is split two way's, can we say ouch ! Crying or Very sad
The other Deer hunting trip this year is in Quebec 500 miles round trip. Just made the trip last weekend went scounting, and ended up having to buy gas in the boon docks at $1.39 a liter, there is 3.8 liters to a gallon. I will make sure I am topped off, before heading down that road again.

Cal.. was right there is 3.8 liters not 3.6 liters to gallon, I edited my post.

I'll pay the gangsters whatever I have to, but I certaily won't be happy about it. We use a metric system up here so it comes out a little differently. Gas in Quebec currently is $1.05 a liter and there are 3.8 liters to a gallon so that comes out to $3.99 a gallon. I usually drive a little Toyota Tercel that gets good gas mileage so I'm not hurt as bad as some, but it's still brutal. On the other hand I drive 130 miles each way to the rifle range so that eats me right up. The government gets a percentage of every gallon sold through taxes so they're not going to give us relief. They're benefitting from this nonsense. The whole thing is sickening. Best wishes.

Howdy For most of my hunting the farm i hunt is within walking distance pretty much right out the back door, so it shouldn't affect my deer season at all, I can ride the four wheler to my stand as well. I sure would like to see those prices drop though, i'm taking a trip to NC at the begining of the month.

Most of my hunting is done within a few miles of home and the longest trip is 150 miles away. Hate to say it, but I have a company vehicle and a company gas credit card. Sure would like to see some of the cheap liberated Iraqi oil come to the U.S. I suspect we are selling it to China and Japan to offset the balance of trade deficit. All the best...

It won't make much difference here, our after work spot is 12 miles round trip and our weekend spot is 50 miles round trip. It may affect the people from Dallas and Houston that come here to hunt.

It will effect us in as much as I will be setting up my tent and heater and camping out during the deer hunt. It's not that far away, but I feel if we all keep paying the price it will just become normal.

As far as the bird hunting season goes it will be slower hunting and fewer fields hunted. For the ducks and geese I will just have to plan better. When I go, it will be a day hunt. Ducks and geeses in the morning squirrels and rabbits during the day, then ducks again in the evening.

It's a tough job but someone has to do it.

I travel 1200 mile's to the northern end of my province.(ontario) Our truck's get 11 and 13 mile's per, canadian gallon. The price per canadian gallon should be around $5.00 can. Ya. i think the gas price's will effect us some. Born to be a Moose hunter. Rick.

Its going to have an effect on my hunting. I have to travel about 600km (480 miles) to get to my deer hunting grounds and about another 100 km (60 miles) to my other hunting area. Fuel is about $US4.28 a gallon here at the moment, and its tipped to go higher because of the hurricane you guys are suffering at the moment.

Going to hurt, thats for sure.
