If you were going to buy another one would you buy the Johny Stewart again?

Yep, good stuff! Interested in a non-remote controlled E/caller?
The J. S. 612 and 512 units use cassette tapes but with internal 12 volt battery and external speaker they are heavy. While still non-remote, their lightweight Preymaster units (with external speaker) uses small penlight batteries and dedicated sound cards (4 Johnny Stewart sounds per card). I bought my dad one of the Preymasters when they came first came out, we have called in quite a few critters with his.
I feel J. S. has some of the most realistic sounds on the market, even today. The two cat sounds I use are the CT 125 A: Distressed House Cat
and CT 125: Distressed Kitten.

Sorry, can't help on the night hunting....we can't predator hunt at night here.

Farrier, if you are still around, hunting under a full moon is da bomb! At least that is how my teenager would put it. When we could still use it, My best five day period was thirty five called in and five taken. And we were still learning how to set up at night that week!

If I had my homework done taking two a night was no problem if weather permitted.

For setup you have to be in the shadows, back in under large trees or brush.

Watching the wind becomes even more important at night. Through a lot of trial and error I learned to keep all setups on the down wind side of where I thought them to be. Working my way into where they were often wound up with me getting busted. If I could get them howling before I moved in it made it a lot easier.

About the time I got this all figured out the state stopped night hunting period. Full moon hunting was all we had for three years , coyote only. L.O.

I use an E.L.K. Power Howler, Austin Howler, and a variety of Primos, and Modern Calls items. Also just started using a decoy: Mojo Critter-awesome!

For howling: E.L.K. Power Howler, and Austin Howler. Also use a Modern Calls Fawn Bleet, a PsychoTweety, Critter Getter, Tally Ho & Primos #12 & 14 open reed calls. Almost forgot a Lohman closed reed call-makes a wild & raspy jackrabbit distress call.

i use only store bought calls. My favorites are the Power Howler from Elk, and the Fawn Bleat from Modern Calls. The Tally Ho also gets alot of use doing double duty as a howler and rabbit distress call.

I like to howl a few times, which sometimes brings a yote looking for a friend. Sometimes if the reply is deep/rapy I'll respound with a deper tone and the yote may come in looking to kick the butt of the interloper;then I'll start with a rabbit or small rodent call.

i use all of the above except the cat all though they have been the target animal at times.
i have two j.s., Cass creek, one home built and one fox pro for electronics.
and have never seen a hand call i didn't want. i have about 50 different hand calls and always buying more.
my main usage calls are the tally hoe, loehmann's wooden open reed, cercies mvp 3, hidals gh cottentail.
I'm working a deal for 4 custom calls these will be my first customs and am looking forward to trying them. I'm trading deer sheds for them.
its a toss up as to whether I've killed more with the tally or the Circe.
the old j.s. tape deck has more hours on it then my t.v. at home and has been the end to hundreds of wileys lifes, many fox and a few bobcat.
lions i like a old wooden sceery deer grunt tube or the lion in heat tape.
i have only had 4 lions show up in my life so I'm not a expert at them and I've never killed one
