that 30/30 necked down to .284 is a 7mmwalters..been around for years
how bizare.... I was trying to quote Vince.... with his suggestion to neck down 30/30 to 7mm....
and of course if going to neck down a 307win case the logical choice would be to go .277 and call it the .306.8 now that would be a great cartridge in a break open....following on from another fellas new rifle build where he created a shorter than normal cartridge by simply cutting bum off dies and then getting gunsmith to shorten chamber end of barrel etc by same amount,my mind automatically thought ideal way to make the .277 version of 7mm-08 which would be better with a rim..thus the .3-6.8 rimmed,but my gun cabinet is full enough and wallet too empty to make it happen.
