Oh wow... someone just got fired, lol
My dad as a general contractor had to work on a historic house once after a fire. It was ridiculous how much it cost the insurance company (they even had to re-open a quarry that had been closed 60 years to get new matching stone).

Daughter told me today that the owner of the company that caused the damage says he's not responsible because there wasn't a sign warning of low clearance... They pointed out to him that the truck was basically trespassing on private property. I'm sure this will turn out to be a drawn out mess.

I think the company owner is going to get spanked

Pumpkinslinger, just wondering how this all turned out? Are the repairs complete? Was justice done?

Slim, it's still ongoing!
The guy who did the damage, or his insurance company, is contesting. Also, this is a historic hotel, first built in 1891 (although the damaged area was added later), so it really complicates repairs. It has to be restored "historically correct" BUT someone is claiming that it has to meet modern building codes. I was there last week and my daughter said that they are waiting on quotes and plans from two structural engineers. They have to have at least two quotes for the insurance companies.
It's a shame that : #1 - the guy responsible is a rotten bum, and #2 - the various regulations are making repair so difficult. I do understand wanting to fix it "historically correct" but I'm not sure how the current building code will be met. I mean, the thing has been standing there 100 years or so.
