Elvis, how's your hair after a ride with such a hybrid car? I think it's strange that nobody is mentioning anything about magnetic fields with electric cars... just look at the precautions they take when you go for an N.M.R. in the hospital...
and good or bad, live is bringing both all the time. Last week my oldest daughter brought the news that our 4th musketeer is on its way (I already have 3 gandsons), yesterday morning I got the message that my oldest brother-in-law died. He had an agressive cancer that already spread out and was rather weak, but things suddenly went real fast. I'm sure he's better of now without the struggle and the pain of a fight he couldn't win. But even when you're expecting the worst, it still can surprise everyone. Makes one realize how small we are...

Life, its a challenge, enjoy it while you can.
A bad day on holidays beats a good day at work always.
Hybrid cars, probably the most practicle alternative to fueled cars until the charging infrastructure catches up. Distance per charge is the issue in OZ once you are out of a major city. Intra city trips can be done just add at least a day to travel times for battery only powered cars. A charging point at every motel car park alone a hyway would be useful, recharge over night.

A day would not be enough for a trip Brisbane to Sydney mate. Depending on the vehicle and type of recharge, it could be as much as 3 extra days. For instance…the new Volvo Elec vehicle gets around 300km highway km per charge. On a trip of 1000km that is 4 recharges. If you use AC power to recharge, it’s an overnight charge…if you use DC power, it’s roughly an hour to recharge. However, what recharge options will be available at recharge points and at what cost? |
This is why I don't take electric vehicles serious as a viable option for us here. Winter is too long and cold to make medium to long distance travel remotely possible aside from the fact that the power grid can not handle the load of a large number of cars charging at the same time. To accommodate, a serious revamp of our power grid would be required $$$$. What will that do to the price of power? I think we all know. Somehow the narrative includes the allusion that power is cheap. I beg to differ. This past winter my bills more than doubled and it wasn't what I would call an overly cold winter - no extra or different load from previous years. The price of gas and diesel has climbed by close to 50% and people are saying that hydrocarbon fuel is becoming too expensive (and it is) but just wait and see what the price of power is going to do. I suspect that it will be no cheaper to run an ev than a standard ice vehicle, maybe more as the new world order prefers to keep the minions close to home and what better way than to make the cost of travel out of reach for all but the elite.

Another year gone by..
This last year felt like the time is going quicker, it was a crazy busy year for me with a lot of interesting happenings due to the pandemic.
Gain more business and new tenants
Lost a few more friends due to COVID-19
First knife show and travel in a commercial airplane after a couple of years hiatus due to COVID-19
Overall i think I'm happy.
I hope you are all well.

Today is not a good day. My partner was placed into a medically induced coma to help relieve her from her pain as the end nears. She has pancreatic cancer and will not last a week. While it was know she would not survive this, the speed of her decline is mind numbing. Three weeks ago she was walking and talking and being her bubbly self. A week ago I took her to emergency and she couldn't walk and barely talk. Family is gathered, the priest has been to see her. We had so many plans..

Mate, I’m so sad to hear this. When this dreaded disease hits a loved one as it has in your case, it is so devastating to watch the decline of a once happy healthy spouse…especially when you know there is nothing you can do to protect the one you love. We had our 47th anniversary a few weeks ago, and I can’t even begin to imagine how I’d feel in your position.
I offer my commiserations to yourself and your family and pray that your beloved partner doesn’t suffer when the end finally comes.
We are here if you need support or want to talk mate.

Grey-Wolf
I am very sorry to hear that.
I hope she does not suffer too much.
As said before, we are here for you any time you need to talk.
We also lost my brother-in-law a few years ago due to pancreatic cancer, you are right it is a very fast decline less than 6 months from diagnosis to the end.
He was only 38 years old, a nonsmoker, never drink alcohol, and eat healthily yet he went way faster than anyone of us.
I am lucky to be able to say goodbye on time.

Thanks all. Sadly she passed last night. Peacefully surrounded by family and friends without out pain and not alone as she wished for. Her two brothers and I have been staying in her hospital room for the last week only leaving for meals when someone else was there to be with her. I am devastated, of course the outcome was never in doubt but that still doesn't prepare you. My son came home with me tonight so I didn't have to come home to an empty house. Give your spouse a hug and a kiss - you never know when the last one will be
