Montana has it
Permitless concealed carry of firearms - also known as constitutional carry - is now legal in Montana, following Governor Greg Gianforte signing House Bill 102 into law.
The new law allows people to carry concealed firearms without a permit in most locations, and with a permit in state and local government facilities such as the State Capitol Building.
Gun control measures don’t prevent criminals from perpetuating violence or crime,” said Gianforte. “Gun control measures step on the rights of law abiding citizens and our Second Amendment is very clear, the right of the people to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed.”

18 states with Constitutional carry now. Why would anyone think that more "gun control" was wanted by US citizens?

Because they know that before they can make the USA a socialist country they have to disarm those who would oppose them.

Utah just signed one as well. I haven't read it yet to know all of the details, but will still be issuing the permit as well.

You need the permit for other states that accept the carry permits from Utah.

And for firearm purchases (no background check needed if you have a valid permit) and to carry in places such as schools.

The initial reason I got a CCP was so I could take my son hunting before school, then drop him off afterwards at the front door with guns in the vehicle and not get in trouble.
IMO, getting the permit is still better than not, if you ever got into an actual situation you had to use a firearm being able to prove you had some training on the legality and liability of weapons would benefit you in court.
Best thing that came out of my CCP training was the instructor said "You cannot escalate a situation and claim self defense". Good advice

I agree totally mate. The bottom feeders will search for, and grab with both hands, any tiny little titbit that they believe can discredit you and help their, usually, scumbag client.
I like the advice given by your instructor...it’s not only good advice, it’s 100% correct. It’s a bit like hitting a guy in self defence and putting him down for the count, but you continue to punch the living snot outa him...the self defence window shut as soon as he went down and couldn’t continue.

situation must be imminent, the attacker(s) has to have the means to cause grievous harm or death, you must be innocent of any aggression, You must use no more force than a person would find reasonable.
If you meet these four guides to a reasonable person then you have a case of self defense. if you only have three then you can be tried for murder.
There is no guarantee that you won't be charged with murder or sued for wrongful death.

IMO bare fists are a means to cause grievous bodily harm or death.
They average 10% of homicides in the UK every year & I've yet to find anyone who can quantify what is "reasonable force".
If someone makes it plain they intend to assault me & there's no safe way to retreat, then IMO, lethal force is reasonable, because I don't wish to end up dead on the side-walk from a single punch.

I am unsure about the law outside the USA mike but maybe you can help.
Can you use lethal force to defend yourself in Britain?

That Paul is a can of worms.
They start by arresting you for nnanslaughter or murder and let the barristers fight it out in court.
I am jaded by our laws, fair warning.

Yes, there have been several cases in recent years (ignore the infamous Tony Martin one, as he shot the guy in the back as he was running away).
Best one was four thugs who did a violent home invasion on a remote farm & two were shot by the farmer (unfortunately not terminally).
Caught, arrested & brought to trial, they complained to the judge about being shot.
His words were "if you break into a remote farmhouse late at night, you can expect to be shot".
Two more where burglars were stabbed to death & one where the blind widow of a WW2 naval officer managed to shove her late husband's dress sword right through an intruder, terminating his assault & also his miserable existence.
