Yep the base is airforce, spent 5 years there.
However......
In 2017 they moved the bulk of 1 armoured corps to Edinburgh from Darwin because they couldnt retain trained soldiers who had unhappy wives or the troops were just pissed off operating in 60 deg temps in high humidity and being bush a lot of the time.
As to the above article, god knows, I dont.
But it would reflect a reality disconnect in both the officer corps and the SNCO cadre.
I know if I was the RSM I would have been raising a pointed and frank discussion with the CO.
As in WTF are you doing? Sir.
So Vince its an army "thing", that would make it your area of expertise, me Im just a clueless ex airframe fitter, but having worked for the army Im not surprised.

I can’t for a second imagine this would be instituted without the RSM’s go ahead...there must be more to the story than the journalist who wrote this article actually knows. Maybe the soldiers using the crapatorium were up to no good when they “visited”. Maybe with the introduction of females into the Arms Corps, soldiers were grabbing the opportunity for an “illicit liaison” in the outhouse...who knows. Whichever way, it is something that soldiers would not like, but would grab the opportunity with both hands to have a little “fun” with...but not good nonetheless.

No mate, apparently this is fair dinkum. I can’t understand it, it’s ridiculous. I note that it is only one of the Squadrons, so maybe the OC thinks the bog is for his private use and is checking on soldiers usage, or maybe it’s his way of training soldiers to record entries in the radio log with sufficient detail. Not a real smart move though.

How long has it been since the Air Force was called the Royal Army Air Force?
The last time I saw RAAF was in an article from 1947 and it was Roswell Army Air Force base in New Mexico.

Never. Been the Royal flying corp from roughly 1915 thru 1921 then became the Royal Australian Air Force.
There seems to be a trend putting army units on airforce bases, defence already owns the land and they can usually find a uncluttered area to put an army unit, they just put in the required buildings and put in a new gate in the fence.

Semi free.
Autonomous govt with our own parliment, laws and govt structure based on the English system.
The queen of England is still the head of government, that may change when queen Elizabeth passes, imo that would be the time to become a republic.
Probably wont happen as most people dont trust politicians to do it correctly and the current system works.
