what decision is to be made Mate???? if the $$$$ are taken care of by tax payer GET YOUR SORRY BUTT ON THE WAITING LIST.....
if the cost is yours, thats going to be different,a long recovery time means you need to shoot sitting down..... or just hurry out there and shoot lots now before the op.

I thought robots did this surgery now. They have you up walking in no time though only short distances at first.

Go for it Vince.
A friend (now deceased) had it done when he was 73, and told me that he should have done this sooner.
On a personal note, I need to get both plus a hip, but I can now wait because I lost 35ibs and they are thanking me for it. It will be inevitable.

Good luck on yours , We'll keep the beer iced down for you.

I'm with Elvis on this.
Get it done mate - the fact that it's troubling you enough to consider having it done says it all.

Mmm, how many years a a grunt?
Is it worn through cartilage or torn stretched tendons Or both?
What's your surgeons success rate with this operation
What's the failure rate of the replacement joint
What's the rejection rate of this joint
What's the infection rate at the hospital it will be done at.
Do you like the idea of walking pain free and not being woken up by pain and not being able to predict the weather by the "throb" method?
Look at 9 months as a full recovery period (antiques take longer to fix than a new model takes to make) .
Those evil physio beaches will drag you out of bed next morning and start you shuffling with clenched teeth.
DVA does a good job, dont forget to arrange travel, physio etc with them if you go ahead with this.
Best of luck.

Gidday Pete,
26 years as a grunt mate
Non existent cartildge, tendons and ligaments seem ok, torn meniscus and bone on bone
Surgeon has a very good reputation (Brisbane Hips and Knees)
Failure rates are low...94% viable at 15 years and 60% at 30 years
Infection...unknown mate...Brisbane Private on Wickham Terrace
Being pain free appeals mate
I know that the next morning will be a mongrel, but what can I say...grit my teeth and do it
DVA details will be sorted. I have two physics on tap when the time comes.
Good luck readily accepted mate, but I think hard work is more to be expected.

Get it over and done with Vince. the faster you do it, the faster you leave this behind and move on.

How hard can it be to wrap your head around the idea that you can be pain free in short order? If you procrastinate too long you will lose the necessary bone to do a proper replacement and risk infection before surgery.
I hope you come to grip with the idea sooner than later. Either way you will be in my prayers.
