This is interesting...they might not be the best looking critter in the paddock, but they are useful.

well technically that picture is a possum...... the furry ones we have ''down under" are opossums...or brush tail oppossums to be even more PC. them ones you lot have look like overgrown nuclear power plant rats to me LOL.

I know squat about "down under opossums" But, all ours are welcome on my farm anytime. They rarely get rabies, they kill and eat rats, mice, and snakes. I watched one kill and eat a huge copperhead last year. Never have had one attack my chickens, unlike raccoons, bob cats, eagles, hawks and a variety of other wildlife. The only thing that irritates me is they sometimes burrow under my house. We just trap them and release them at least 5 miles away.

Tried everything I could think of to trap the damn critters all to no avail. .22 woodsman solved the problem.
