They should call me, it's only 950 million....I could do some moonlighting...maybe sweep up some and look under the couch or between the cushions...I'm sure I could come up with somethin. Wonder if it's only that one division of Remington having troubles.

Yes, just the Remington Arms division. When it was set "free" by Cerberus after the Sandy Hook tragedy they were left without working capital and a large debt from law suits for "defective" triggers. Filing bankruptcy would be a good business move because it would put the company back in control of its own destiny. I doubt they can go out of business with all the government contracts that they have but it might affect their status as one of the top manufacturers of firearms in the USA.
I hope they find the financing and Suzanne, if you happen across that $950 million you could probably own the company if you played your cards right. You could have all the free firearms you wanted. I think I could kick in a few bucks if you fall a little short. Wink

So...

...if a million shooters kick in $950 a piece, we get to own Remington?

I'd be tempted if that were the case.

I hate to see what mismanagement has done to a once great company like Remington leads to, but in the end, not listening to your customer will kill any company.

QC has been abandoned there for years and an attempt to have anything fixed by them has been met with contempt. I shouldn’t need to return something to a manufacturer at my expense in order for them to decide whether or not it’s a warranty issue(just my ramblings on a 20 gauge shotgun we bought for my wife that never worked correctly).

When I was a kid growing up, I dreamed of owning a Model 700. It was (to me) the ultimate rifle out there. I own 2 now, both purchased use. My .308 is a BDL and was produced in the mid 70’s and my .243 is a ADL from the late 80’s. I wouldn’t part with either of them for anything. I couldn’t say that about anything they produce now.

A few years back, I had a chance to take an elk hunting trip to Utah with a friend and decided I needed a new rifle in .300 Win Mag. After much research, I narrowed my choice to Kimber and Remington (Remington mainly out of nostalgia). When I went to my friends shop and was advised that the Kimber would cost only $75.00 more than the Remington the choice was easy, especially when he told me he wasn’t even sure his distributor could get him a Remington, but the Kimber could be in my hands is 3-4 weeks.

More recently, I’ve been thinking about getting a .270 Win for my wife (for selfish reasons, I want my .308 back). I asked at a local outdoor supplier about getting a Remington and was advised that they could no longer get them due to agreements with the “big box” stores. If I wanted to get one locally I needed to shop for them at Wally World.....No Thanks
