Just a quick post to say g'day from the Central West of New South Wales, Australia. The Central West is about 3 hours drive west of Sydney on the East Coast. A rural/mining area.

Hunting, shooting, fishing, hiking, four wheel driving, eating (animals), and most other things with the suffix 'ing' are the things I like to do. Hence, "AnyIng"

Love the content of the forum so far.

Cheers
Steve

What part of NSW are you in mate? I'm originally a Sydney (Western Suburbs) boy but now settled in Brisbane. Lived in the Riverina many years ago, great area.

Thanks guys,

Vince, I am in Orange due west of Sydney. Getting a little cooler here now (elevation about 1000m or 3300 ft) but not cold as some of the guys would call cold. Certainly a lot colder than Brisvegas ever gets.

Dimitri, Yeah mate they make it hard but it is just a matter of having to dot the i's and cross the t's. Of course anything auto, semi auto or handgunish is prohitited to most.

Chet, I reckon a recliner is far more comfortable than a chair however the show so far it great, a very professional forum. A credit.

George, No worries mate, I certainly am not the Lord but I too can giveth and taketh. Laughing

Cheers

Yeah Vince, all the above with Fallow, goats and foxes.
No 1895ss I don't sing, much.
Dimitri, mate I will try to offer what I can but just reading the small content that I have I reckon my experiences are somewhat swamped by most others. Perhaps my aussie perspective may be of interest though.

Gelan,

I am blessed to be able to hunt on several properties. All at the invitation of the owners. These invitations are particularly prized. Experience has shown me that sharing a property is a bit like lending out your lawn mower or wife. Either way they both are going to come back stuffed. Shocked
As a member of SSAA you would be aware that there is public land for hunting around the state under the game councils control. It will require you completing your r licence but you will have access to heaps of land on which to hunt. I hope this does not appear too harsh but I have close mates who know that they will not get another invite with me as they did not do the right thing by the property owner last time.

Hi Gil, thanks for the welcome.

Gee fellas, I just re read my last post and it probably sounds a little harsh but as Vince will no doubt atest, access to hunting properties is hard to get and I would wager that he would do the same if in the same position i was just placed. No offence meant Gelan.

Steve, you are 100% correct. A property to shoot on is a very much prized "possession". Like yourself I am very careful who I take out hunting with me. Even a simple thing like not closing a gate can loose you access to the property, especially if cattle or sheep are able to move from one paddock to another and the property owner didn't want them in there.

I usually accompany guys to the range for a few months to get a feel for them and their ethics/ideals. If they meet my standards/expectations then they MAY get an invite to come out hunting. Its the only way to protect your access.

Gelan, don't feel bad mate....this is a common thing amongst hunters in Australia. Properties to hunt are extremely difficult to gain access to, as you no doubt know. Sometimes you are expected to pay for access in one way or another. It may be a few hours work assisting the owner or it is "your shout" with a couple of cartons of beer or a bottle of Scotch.

Cheers, Vince
