Any one use BP ML shot guns? I have a Dixie coach gun (20"BBl) and love the thing to death, I use 70gr FF powder and 11/4oz #6 shot inside a Claybuster wad and over powder wad. works great on rabbits.
Any one with different experience's or loads?

I have a T/C New Englander 12 gauge percussion that I have used for years. I prefer about 80 grains of FFG and 1 1/8 of shot (usually #5, #6 or# 7 1/2). The Winchester AA wads or SAC Variwads with the removable base are just fine. I use .035 card wads over the shot. My wish is for a flintlock shotgun and have been looking around for a smooth barrel at a decent price. I would put it in a Lyman Trade Rifle stock. Not sure why a smooth barrel costs more than a rifled one. If I must, the local gunsmith will bore out a .54 caliber barrel to 28 gauge or 20 gauge depending on the barrel wall thickness that is available. All the best...

I built a 20ga. smooth bore Old Virgina style flintlock just for hunting spring gobblers with and I really like the gun. I got this bird with it last gobbler season.
But it just don't reach out far enough with a tight pattern to suit what I want. So I'm either going to send it off and get it jug choked or build a lightweight 12ga. flintlock for next season. Will get it jug choked too.
However..I have no desire to hunt gobblers with anything but traditional flintlocks anymore. I still like my mix of flintlocks and modern guns with deer though. I like to hunt some areas that present 200yds. or more shots and I like my flat shootin scoped rifles for that.

Thats cool Hoyt, I like Black powder "ANYTHING" I use flint , percussion....even had an old match lock replica for a few years made by Miroku in Japan.
Currently I have 7 or 8 percussion or flintlock rifles and pistols, have harvested deer, squirrels, rabbits, coyote and fox. This fall I'm going to try and get my first BP turkey with my 12 ga Dixie double shotgun...

I have a Navy Arms S x S 12ga. I wouldn't trade if for anything! It even shoots .72 cal. roundballs with reasonable accuarcy at 100 yards.
