Anyone have experience with this calibre? I am thinking hard about getting one of these as they appear to be a real bargain.

All kidding aside, Tikka still makes production rifles in this caliber so if it shoots well the other bits shouldn't be an issue.

It's the cartridge that got me into reloading. I've been shooting it for about 9 1/2 years and reloading it for about 8 years.
What would you like to know?

the short version...between a .243 and a 7mm/08
stuff all recoil
very good b.c.
some very handy projectiles make it kill better than it should.

"You can always trust a Swede!"
I happen to have such a Carl Gustav, but with a Douglash barrel in .308 Win. You will love the diopter and the trigger even more.

The old "Swede" is a fascinating cartridge. In an accurate and strong rifle it's what he .260 Remington wishes it was. I have tried to convince myself that I really need one for years. My shooting buddy has a Carl Gustav M94 (if I remember correctly) in a Mannlicher stock that I have coveted for years - even though it has godawful "ivory" diamond inlays on the stock. It is short, sweet and deadly. Those little cartridges loaded with Nolser plastic tips just plain look sexy!

Slim, they have dozens of them made by several manufacturers including Carl Gustafs, Mauser and Huskavarna. Vintages run from pre 1900 to the 50's. I am still at the can I justify yet another rifle stage. I think I may ask my dear wife to make it a Christmas present. It saves her having to shop for me and may be the "tipping" point necessary to add it to my collection.

MacD, Congrats! We are going to need a full report! You didn't get it unless we see the pictures! Right, Elvis?

Saawwweeeettt!!! That's gonna be a nice one, I was browsing the site and noticed they also have barreled receivers for a very low price. If ya get the bug bad enough you can build one, that'd be fun. Those prices seem pretty low for the actions and barreled receivers, I'd buy one or two if I was in town (and lived in Canada). Lots of paper work and taxes to import one from there you have to buy $3000 worth minimum and then jump hoops. Anyways I hope it's a jewel!
They've got a hek of an inventory of rolling blocks too, reasonably priced.

It is an awesome caliber.
At one stage the caliber was one of the more popular ones in Oz for pig shooting.

Vince, time to open up the cooler, mate, and send a few brews Aloys' way. Maybe MacD's, too.
