Nope. rabbits stay pretty buttoned up in briars, fallen tree tops stuff like thst. once a rabbit is jumped it runs a circle right back almost exactly where you jumped it up from or atleast within shotgun range. some circled are jist bigger.than others!

Ok, the cottontails you guys have in the US are different to the European Rabbits we have out here in Australia. Our rabbits live in what we call a "warren". Some warrens can be very big with as many as 20 entry points. These warrens are usually centred on blackberry patches, heavy bracken fern patches or fallen logs etc. sometimes you can find them in amongst rocky outcrops or even out in the open.

exactly, here the same. Rabbits do only a very short run till they go under. Only in cornfields they might run longer. Even when you chase them out their hidings with a furret, they will only run till the next "safe-house"
