I use plastic straws for the diffuser rods, even wood dowels will give better than stainless or aluminum.

Ok for those that are curious or can use the data, the contents of EEPROM memory of the BETA chrony is as follows:

Code::
0000: 00 00 13 FF FF FF FF F1 F8 07 F0 07 E8 07 E0 07
0010: D8 07 D0 07 C8 07 C0 07 B8 07 B0 07 90 DB 5E DB
0020: 2C DB FA DA C8 DA 96 DA 64 DA 32 DA 00 DA CE D9
0030: FF FF FF FF FF FF FF FF FF FF FF FF FF FF FF FF
0040: FF FF FF FF FF FF FF FF FF FF FF FF FF FF FF FF
0050: FF FF FF FF FF FF FF FF FF FF FF FF FF FF FF FF
0060: FF FF FF FF FF FF FF FF FF FF FF FF FF FF FF FF
0070: FF FF FF FF FF FF FF FF FF FF FF FF FF FF FF FF
and repeat of $FF to the end of the EEPROM

If you can use this please publish here and we can discuss more.

Actually I got a bit more than these out of the half dead unit I got.
I can communicate with it, but I am too lazy to publish unless there is real use for it.

I could write a short program to extract the memory strings etc but are they really useful? Maybe typical answer I will get is "yes" and thats it. Considering the hours to be spend I think it is hardly worthwhile.

Geland, is this again such a freaky Linux-joke?
It looks like chinese to me, but knowing who wrote it down...

No Aloy, this is a serious thread Wink I shot my Chrony after all.
the code is an actual download off the eeprom of a Beta Chrony.

I am hoping I can get someone interested enough in this so I can justify writing programs for it.
Obviously I want feedback and long answer rather than a couple of words as expression of interest.

I would have shot my chrony if it talked back to me like that, too!

I shot my chronograph too. Would this fix the sky screen supports that I shot?

No Aloy...That's "Greek". At least it is to me.

I use shish-kabob skewers for my supports. They flex and bend, not putting extra stress on the plastic sensor piece. If you knick one its a simple replacement.

Geland

I messed around with this using a win98 machine and "hyperterminal" to allow me to talk to the chrony. This was back in late 90's or early 2000. Now you have me interested in digging up my paperwork for that period in time.

Also I remember using minicom on Mandrake and red-hat for the unix pc's.

Awesome..
Look forward to them

Here are what I got so far:

X.GEE to download all data from the memory
X.DEL to clear all memory
X.HXF to download the EEPROM
X.QRY to download system settings.

IMO generally X.GEE and X.DEL would be the only required command, because you get all the memory data of the shot strings, number of shot, string number and velocity in fps, and delete the memory once you are done with them.

The download dump is coma separated and thus easy to extract with any spreadsheet programs.
