California Gov. Jerry Brown has signed into law AB 711, a statewide ban on the use of traditional ammunition in hunting, the first such ban in the nation. I got an e-mail from the National Shooting Sports Foundation today, but the Gov. also vetoed several other gun bills. NSSF and a coalition of hunting, sportsmen, gun-owners, labor and some law enforcement officials had urged him to veto this anti-hunting bill. Here are a few more that were signed into law;
SB 127 by Sen. Ted Gaines, R-Rocklin -- Requires that reports by a licensed psychotherapist to a local law enforcement agency of someone who has communicated a serious threat of physical violence against a reasonably identifiable victim or victims be made within 24 hours; also requires local law enforcement agencies, when they receive such reports, to notify the Department of Justice electronically and within 24 hours. SIGNED
SB 363 by Sen. Roderick Wright, D-Los Angeles -- expands the crime of "criminal storage" to include keeping a loaded firearm within premises where a prohibited person is likely to gain access and actually accesses and causes injury. SIGNED
SB 683 by Sen. Marty Block, D-San Diego -- would require owners of long guns to earn safety certificates like those already required of handgun owners. SIGNED
AB 48 by Assemblywoman Nancy Skinner, D-Berkeley -- would ban conversion kits that allow people to turn regular magazines into high-capacity magazines. SIGNED
AB 170 by Assemblyman Steven Bradford, D-Gardena -- would provides that only an individual person, not an organization, may be issued a permit to possess an assault weapon, .50 BMG rifle, or machine gun. SIGNED
AB 231 by Assemblyman Phil Ting, D-San Francisco -- would make it a crime to leave a loaded firearm somewhere a child is likely to be able to get it without permission. SIGNED
AB 500 by Assemblyman Tom Ammiano, D-San Francisco -- would tighten gun safety laws on safe storage to include households where someone is prohibited from owning a gun; also allows additional time for Department of Justice background checks. SIGNED
AB 538 by Assemblyman Richard Pan, D-Sacramento -- Requires a licensed firearm dealer to provide copies of the dealer's record of sale (DROS) to a firearm purchaser at the time of delivery. SIGNED
AB 539 by Pan -- lets someone who's temporarily prohibited from owning or possessing a firearm to transfer firearms in his or her possession or ownership to a licensed firearms dealer for storage. SIGNED
AB 711 by Assemblyman Anthony Rendon, D-South Gate -- would ban use of lead ammunition in hunting by mid-2019. SIGNED
AB 1131 by Skinner -- would extend from six months to five years the prohibition from owning firearms for those who've described a credible violent threat to a psychotherapist. SIGNED
When you read those that were signed and then read the bills that were vetoed, it makes ya wonder.
Stovie moved.....good thing!

Goddam, what they want shooters to use? Depleted plutonium maybe?
Electronics industries also banned from using lead for a while now.
The new "lead free" solders are the main reason for breakdown in electronics goods nowdays due to their brittle joints.

So if you're hunting in California what do you use? What kind of alternative ammo is out there, I have no idea. Solids would blow right through.....I'm gonna have to look into this one.
Just looked around and found this dept. of fish and game web site with a list of certified ammo manufacturers. Click on the manufacturer name and a PDF files comes up with what they have to offer in non-lead bullets. Looks like mostly copper is the metal of choice.
Is that why people have been stealing copper wiring? I guess if you had a swage thingymadooodle you could steal some wire and swage bullets, sell them to Cal. hunters for a better price. Lotta copper mines in Arizona,....is that why Stovie moved?HHhhmmmmnnn.......

I'm still trying to find a single confirmed case of lead poisoning caused by someone eating meat shot with a bullet...

Man has been hunting with lead projectiles for hundreds of years and eating the game killed by such. Are the hospitals crammed with people who have contracted lead poisoning as a result of this?
So far, with the help of misinformation, the California Condor is said to be in peril due to ingesting particles of lead projectiles and contracting lead poisoning.
Also In addition too, no mountain lions, buzzards, hawks, eagles, coyotes, etc, including fish suffer from the same type of poisoning?

Gentlemen and woman. Did you know you could swallow a lead bullet and never get lead poisoning?
ByTheWay. california tax payers pay to feed the condors (The state purchases a steer, drags it out in the condor reserve, shoots it and the condors eat). Why you ask? Because there are not enough dead large animals for them to survive. Hummm. Seems to me that the era of the condor was ended... Mandated by nature...

on the other hand we already had here 1 case of broken appendicitis caused by steel shot that sticked together and started rusting.
And I should also mention a few death sheep and trees. Lead didn't oxidise inside a body, steel does and the ironoxides seem to poison animals and trees.
And isn't it fun that some european countries already return to lead shot and now this stupid thing starts on the other side of the ocean?
