No, not really but there are twenty states with submissions on the White House website that are asking to leave the union peacefully and begin their own government. Only one has the required number of signatures for an answer - Texas. No answer has been issued as yet.
There are more than 20 states that have voted on or have on the docket a vote on secession. Texas has it in their constitution - they can leave anytime.

Wow, did not know that there is such crack in the US of A.
I wonder if this is a good or bad sign.
In one side, maybe central govt been abusing their power too much so a separation might be good,
OTOH, the US is strong because they are indeed a US.

No Geland,
The US FEDERAL government is strong because States rights were pushed aside for a Federalist system at the end of the American Civil War, which ended the question if the United States was still a union of states or they were a Federalist country.
They went from being similar to the EU, to being any other Federalist country such as Germany, where the Federal Government ends up being the supreme law of the land regardless of what its individual states really want or not.
Secession in the US is as dead as Elvis Presley, sure some people keep the dream and hope alive, but for practicality's sake, its all but dead and gone.

For you Dimi, please read the FAQ. Here's an excerpt;
The South's rejoining the Union at the point of a bayonet in the late 1860s didn't prove secession is "not an option" or unlawful. It only affirmed that violent coercion can be used—even by governments (if unrestrained)—to rob men of their very lives, liberty, and property
It bears repeating that the united States are "united" explicitly on the principle that "governments derive their just powers from the consent of the governed" and "whenever any form of government becomes destructive to these ends [i.e., protecting life, liberty, and property], it is the right of the people to alter or to abolish it, and to institute new government" and "when a long train of abuses and usurpations...evinces a design to reduce them under absolute despotism, it is their right, it is their duty, to throw off such government, and to provide new guards for their future security."

Goodluck with that Suz. I mean it, but it wont change much what he puts on the internet.
Thomas Jefferson said ....
Quote:: |
Occasionally the tree of Liberty must be watered with the blood of Patriots and Tyrants |
He also advocated a revolution every 20 years to keep the government on their toes, but no one seriously considers ether a real option in the US regardless of the nagging of both sides of the Political debate.

I noticed a petition to keep North Carolina in the union. I also noticed that it was signed mostly by people from outside the state?!?!?

I keep seeing that Obama says he has a "mandate" from the people to continue the path he was on during the first four years. Now its pretty obvious that he's not good at math but does he realize that (discounting probably voter fraud) he only had 51% of the vote? I don't recall any other presidential election in my life time where there were calls for secession immediately afterwards.

Secession along with "States Rights" is the flavour of the day.
In the end none of this will mean anything and the US will continue along as it always has. No one advocating secession will actually do anything about it. Not in my life time any ways.

Trust me Dimitri, in less than twenty years the "united" States won't exist. By then the fed will have gone bankrupt and there will be a move for a "better" form of government - one controlled by the People and for the People. We really don't need elected representatives in a world where we can instantly get our opinion out around the world. All we need is an "app" for that. Even a president can be replaced by an instant vote of the People. The joint chiefs couls be bound to that instead of one crazy person in a big white house.
When the feds run out of money because of deficit spending the states will stop trying to support them. Even the paper money they print will be worthless - worth less than the paper on which its printed.

Well Aloysius, China owns 8%-9% of our debt now as of 2011. The people in Washington need to cut up the Amex card and do away with stupid spending.
