I am using a TW Rasta hammock, it is really large 3.15m x 1.8m and I could really stretch out in it.
Tried Hennessy, they are over priced IMHO, but then again, they are also very good quality.
cant dissagree with you on the price thing. funny as heck getting in sideways... not how I thought it worked. the tie back straps to stabalise are a good idea and having a rain fly certainly makes it versitile but givin 3 days of rain I think a good old pup tent would win.

Actually, I HAVE been in a hammock for 3 days rain..
wouldnt swap it with a tent mate..

My feet are dry, and sitting in the hammock, hanging.. I wouldnt give a care whether or not the ground is wet.
I also have an extra large tarp to cover me so I could cook and clean my gun nice and dry.

nice set up and you probly are right about the tent thing. those hammocks have got to be easier on old bones than cold hard ground.

Nice area Gelan...and it's good to see you didn't have to deal with the snow.

I use a 3 man tent, but really I am happy to sleep on the ground and under a hootchie. Scratch a "hip hole", put a ground sheet down then an insulating mat followed by my sleeping bag...real comfy. If it looks like rain, a simple channel scratched around the hootchie is all that is needed unless its a real downpour, then you make the channel a little deeper and wider. A double hootch also provides a little "under cover" space for cleaning rifles etc.

I got a Hennessy Hammock several years ago and it's probably one of the best hunting investments I have made...apart from a firearm LOL.
I can set it up in 3 minutes, I also use a larger tarp to either create a cooking space or even sheild from wind. Freakin awesome bit of kit, no sore bones, I can get well away from trails and tracks. Hennessy Hammocks are bottom entry (not being rude) and as you bring your feet in, seal behind you. Go to their web page. I bought the biggest one as I like to be comfortable and not squashed in.

Had a look at their website...the Hennessy Hammock is a damn fine looking piece of kit. It looks like it would be nice and light and very easy to carry if you are on foot, and comfy to boot.

Cheers, Vince

+ 1000.. thats the reason I change to hammock.
Sleeping in the clouds, no digging necessary, heck you can even setup in a steep terrain (with proper harness kit of course).

Hennessy are great, but $$$ as I said before..

I just looked up the prices for Hennessy Hammocks and the one I bought which is the asymetrical velcro seal is $219 NZD which is quite cheap considering what bivvy bags etc go for, yes the most expensive are priced at $279 NZD but they are the next generation ie side entrance and zipped.
I still think they're value for money.

Geland's rope has broken... due to 'overload'?

on the other hand some people overthere seem to use a Hammock with velcro bottom...
to catch sheep?

pardon me, but I'm not so familiar with going to the bushes that way, but it might be fun Smile

A visit to the 'bushes' and going bush are 2 different things.

Aloy, I think you have mistaken Australia (1 word 4 syllables) to New Zealand (2 words 3 syllables 1000000000 worried sheep)
