we have seen a hare from the dining room window a few times since we shifted in. I have put a shot just over his head a while ago but not had a half decent chance to get a clear shot at it well tonight at 9:20pm Im walking around the house in my jammy bottoms cause its so darn hot inside. the fire is going and its 23degrees celcious thats 76 f .
well I look out the window and spot something across the way, cant tell if its a starling in the long grass or what, so out come the carl ziess 10X50 binoculars and low and behold its a set of bunny ears
so I grab the trusty .12ga which just happened to be in the house for a change and 3 rounds of #3 lead and remembered to lock the dog inside. then thought better of it and grabed a shirt cause the sight of my bare man boobs would put the frights up anything short of a angus bull . well anyway I sneak out the door and around the house manage to get over the fence without deknackering myself and comence the stalk. barefoot and all(Suz should like that bit) across the paddock through the long grass I creep keeping an eye out for the pesky bunny, closer and closer I creep till I spot an ear poke up. stop wait down goes the ear forward I creep, as close as I can get then 5 yrds closer. inside 25yrds I pop up and unleash the ol girl over goes the big hare so the great white hunter status is renewed the kids have some hare to eat tomorrow
jeez I love living in the country.

I think I'm scarred for life, thats an unfortunate mental image you've painted there Elvis, jammy bottoms, man booobs, actually a half naked kiwi with a gun is frightening in its own right :).
Stalking around in bare feet, ah the joy of a country without snakes or 3 corner jacks.

dhc4ever if you bone out a hare treat the meat just like venison steak and you will be pleasantly suprised at how similar in taste it is. masterfoods mild steak seasoning is my go to flavour inhancer.
as for #3s
when I was rabbiting 24/7 we would go through a case 250rounds per day. the falcon sp36 lead #3 which is a oz and 1/4 load. 3s are a lot better than #4 as they hit harder and have better range. 3-5 pellets are more than enough to take care of most bunnies.
