You guys want to become "fast on your feet"? You guys want to become "fast with your hands"? Buy, own, and ride a horse or two...You will get much faster...At moving your feet (don't want to get stepped on by a 1000 lb horse)....At moving your hands ( ever been bit by a horse?) You also get mentally faster just staying one step ahead of a horse (escape artist and other horse tricks)

My brother got thrown from a horse a couple years ago while packing out a 6pt elk he shot... horse spooked on a narrow trail and he got tossed on a bend (well he might'a jumped figuring the horse might not make the corner)... landed right on a rock with his back and blew some discs. He had a nasty operation to make it somewhat better but his doctor said he had to give up his lively hood as he cant lift 25lbs anymore.
I've known a couple other guys really busted up by horses, one stomped and killed. These were old school cowboy types too. If you aint been hurt by a horse its only a matter of time. I dont and never will trust'em but I have great respect for horsemen and I do understand the appeal to be above the treeline in the middle of gods country.

Horses can hurt ya , and ya hafta stay a step ahead , and yep it's not always possible .. A horse knows by the way you sit the saddle , and handle him , whether you're scared or not , if you are scared he can learn you a few tricks ..
We had a horse colic once and while we were helping the vet fill him with mineral oil , he bit my cousins index finger off ..
But they're good companions , if ya have a good level headed one ..
