To be honest "out of the box" you get what you pay for, trigger is terrible. I put it at about 7lbs and rough. Stock is cheap you can move the forend with thumb on the barrel and 1 finger on the stock.
I always believe with a little work almost any gun can be made to shoot nice. So I added a RifleBasix trigger ( very nice) I also glass bedded the foreend of the stock but still left the barrel free floated. Just to stiffin the forend. Before I did that I was getting 2 inch groups at 100 meters. Know I get half inch groups at 100 meters useing
bullet: 60gr V-Max
Primer: CCI 400
Case: Hornady
Powder: H322
Charge: 22.4 grains

I would say the Axis is a keeper.

Good choice. You can never have too many guns. Our gun club bought four Savage .223 Axis rifles in .223 for use in our Youth Field Day events. Once sighted in, these rifles are tack drivers. The young shooters loved them and asked to shoot the course again and again. Take care...

Nice rig. If you are still not satisfied with the rigidity of the stock but don't want to replace it, you might try a trick I did on an old Ramline stock for a friend. Those stocks were known for being pretty flimsy and would flex even under the pressure of merely resting the forearm on sandbags. Route two narrow channels on either side of the barrel channel from just behind the fore-end tip back to an inch or so from the recoil lug inletting. Glass-bed a 1/4" stainless steel rod in each of the channels. It isn't a perfect cure, but it can sure help.
Keep us posted on your progress with your new toy!

10 days?!? That is a painful wait. Does winter slow things down? Nice pic, BTW!

it has free shipping and because I live on the east coast it costly to get stuff here. Regular shipping is 10 days for about $30 could have in 5 days or 3 days if I shell out $60-70 and after 50 years I'm use to it

good things take time aye?
looks like you have a great tack driver there. 10 days is more time with the last purchase before the new kid on the bench arrives.
