Can you us H4831 load data with H4831SC powder? I would think so as the powder is just a short cut version of the same thing and the burn rate is the same.

I went ahead and called Hodgdons myself and descovered that the data is infact interchangable as I thought would be the probably answer. So in case anyone else maybe curious the answer to my above question is yes they are.

The only difference that you will notice is that the load density within the case will be more compact when the case is upright. You will have more airspace and you may or may not need to adjust your loads accordingly due to a decernible change in the distribution of the powder. I know that some of the old guys who are into the old Winchester/Sharps blackpowder reloading actually use cornmeal to take up the airspace to keep the powder nearer to the primer for good ignition and flame proprogation across the powder.

H4831 and H4831SC are the same powder just shorter as you have said. And yes you can use the same data for both. I started with H4831 in my Browning .30-06 and was getting good results. Then they came out with H4831SC (Short Cut). Using the same load data there was a vast improvment in down range ballistics. The SC meters better too.

I am going to load some 160 gr Nosler partitions for my 7mm rem mag with it. I am limited on what powder I have and don't have money to spare right now as I am not working currently. So i am just using what I have in stock. I have used the powder with some speer 160gr sp's in my brothers 7 mag and had good results.

Try and stay with the heavier bullets. H4831[SC] works best with the heavies.
