I just NOW remembered I had NOT shared this with ya' all on this side of my "gun-boards!" Silly ME!!!!
Anyways one of old pals from the IowaCarry founding days lives in the next over and he called me up and said "Hey I need to go and check zero on my in-line. Wanna' come check out the range??"
WHAT??? ME NOT WANNA" GO TO Shootin' spot???? Me thinks he doth forgot who he was talkin' to!!! HA HA HA!!!
So I get up throw my gear in the car and wait for him to show up. We get down there and i asked the "boy" if he wanted to shoot a target with my rifle. HE was ALL OVER IT! We put up a close target about 40 50 feet for him to pop at with my 10/22. It was not cycling so it was PERFECT for him. He gets down in a prone position and goes inot this "competition style" position with his leg all cocked up and such. And takes his time with the trigger pull and put the cross hairs on the red dot like I told him. First round miss! Second shot... HIT!He was on the nin ring at about the one o'clock and kept all of his next three or four rounds all in a group the size of my thumbnail!!! Remember this is the FIRST TIME he has EVER SHOT A firearm!!! I have a picture of him pointing to his second round on my facebook page. I was THRILLED he did that well. Now I think maybe we need to invest in a Cricket for him. It didn't even matter after he did so wellthat i forgot the ammunition for the .223!
Just wanted to share with everyone..... Hope ya' all get sometype of similar opportunity to do this with some one you know.
Oh and when I got back... first words out of the "gal" was NEXT TIME I GO SHOOTING WITH YOU!!!!

Thats great to hear Arron, I remember doing the same in the mid 80's and 90's with my kids and every once in a while when they come over, they remark "Hey Dad, remember when", yup I sure do.

Nice, Arron. They'll all be shooting with you on a regular basis in notime. My daughters come visit me at least once a month. Usually they ask "What do you have for ammo?" while they are still in the driveway. We used to only shoot a few times a year, and the girls were pretty good shots then. Now that I have moved into the woods, no trip to the range necessary. We have all been practicing quite a bit since I bought this property in 2008. Now these kids are deadly accurate. I'm so proud. We sure have a lot of fun.
PS- It sure is a good thing I reload ammo.

You love it Bushy, and look forward to it...as all of us Granddads do mate. This is the time when we start training up the next generation of hunters, pass on the benefit of our knowledge and expertise, or in Stovey's case show the grandkids how clever the quail are at "toying" with hunters.
Cheers, Vince
