shrpshtrjoe, I thought you could hunt deer 365 days as year. Why the excitment? Best wishes!

Well, I thought it was a fair question ... but ... your right. We should hope that the excitment gained from hunting never fades away! Go get 'em, shrpshtrjoe.

The land owners son of the air port we hunt is now in charge of doing the paper work for the " letter of authority " that allows us to hunt it 365. The LOA has expired and he seems to be taking his time on renewing it . I can still hunt the property but just with normal seasons now.
OK I went to the property we leased for this year saw a few before shooting hours . I have bin seeing alot during archery just nothing close enough. Saw this doe at 90 yards this morning around 7 AM and she gave me a broad side shot. There were 3 or 4 more in the field but scattered after the shot. It's very windy today I think I will let it hang in the cooler box for 3 or 4 hours and cut her up and try again tomorrow

Be happy you have such an opening. When I asked here in Belgium if it's allowed to hunt with a muzzle loader, nobody can answer me. We have rules about minimum diameter and minimum energy at 100 m distance, but nobody can assure me that's allowed to use black powder.
In the past I have been reloading the cal 12 with black powder for small game, but till now I never used it on large game. Even bow and crossbow-hunting is not allowed here and even dreaming about handgunhunting is forbitten...
I hope one day our government shows a little more respect and trust in their hunters and hopefully the hunters can deal with this new kind of freedom of choise...

Wow Aloysius, I just googled Belgium hunting laws and one statement at the bottom stood out.
"Applicants need to give a valid reason why they need to own a gun."
Stupid draconian laws.

Better not discuss the belgian hunting nor weapon laws here, it might upset shrpshtrjoe...
hunting laws are different for the Southern, French-speaking, part and for the Northern, Dutch-speaking, part (even Brussels has it's own laws independent from the 2 other parts!). I even recently discovered a lot translation mistakes in our Southern hunting laws: in French and German it says "6.5 mm and at least 2 200 joules at 100 meters" and the translation in Dutch says: "6.5 mm and LESS THAN 2 200 joules at 100 meters"
should anyone in our government ever read what they officially publish?
I cannot blame them anymore, we have so many laws and rules now that nobody knows them anymore and almost nobody cares anymore. We just depend on the knowledge of the person who's checking something (and luckely they are usually not the smartest guys in the neighbourhood)
