An amazing feat! 13 years to get the metal of honor. It should have come the next day. Wow, thanks for posting Vince.

Perhaps all the media types that use the term hero for everything from pastry chefs to business tycoons should be forced to watch this tribute.

That was awesome. I agree with you MacD that they should watch this to learn what a real hero is.

Every one who serves in combat or serves those in combat is a hero.
This "dumb mexican" deserved that Medal of Honor and a lot better treatment than he got. I have no words worthy of the caliber of such a man.
I know he is in a wonder filled place right now.

Yeah, that was a tough day, but the days after he got out and the disability payments stopped would have been tougher.
Over there, he knew what to expect, but not at home. Appalling. Good for Ronnie for stepping up to the plate.

I have been on the government payroll for most of my working life. Air force, navy and then coast guard. All counted 40 years. I have encountered too many bureaucrats who stick to their sacred rules and policy because they know nothing else. President Reagan did right. He knew it was right, every person who reads this knows he did right, even the "rules slave" who tried to cut Roy Benavidez's benefits knew he did right. What is wrong with a system that can't do the right thing?
We currently have a controversy simmering in this country over the treatment of our recent veterans particularly as it relates to compensation and medical treatment. In my mind anything they need should be provided without hesitation. If this means an extra tax or cutting back elsewhere so be it. I don't put the military on a pedestal. They are no better or worse than the rest of us as far as morals etc. Those who have faced death, willingly or not, deserve, as payment, a lifelong commitment from their country. Shamefully this is not always the case.
