I've seen the same thing happen that Handloader mentioned. The cases that I have seen is bullets that shoot a larger group at 100 yards (1.5 moa) and they the n have a significantly ...

I agree with Bushmaster on the primers, they are hard to deactivate.

One recommendation on cleaning any rifle with WD-40, beware of varnish that will form on the rifle surface. I have used WD ...

For me it all depends upon what I'm going to use the gun for. I have a 308 and a 300 ultra mag able to shoot well under 1/2" if I do my part. I also have an AR 15 that will do the same. On the othe ...

I agree with Blaine and 10Ring on this one. Spend the money and get Leupold or a Burris. Both of these scopes have a great reputation that is well-deserved. As far as what power to get the 3-9Xva ...

10Ring,

I'm not a real big fan of this type of reticle. I personally think it gets to be too confusing when looking through the scope. I guess that I forgot to mention this as being one of the di ...

Ranger,
Welcome to the forum. I don't know how sensitive you are to recoil but one thing that you might want to think about is to "try before you buy". See if the .300 is really what you want and s ...

Leatherwood is a nice scope and from what I've seen they have really good optics. Burris, Leupold, Horus and Shepherd all make scopes with bullet drop compensation built into the reticles ...

Heat from the gasses coming out of the round cause throat erosion. Some rounds have a relatively long barrel life because of the caliber and the amount of powder. For example the .308 win has a rela ...

My old favorite is a Ruger model 10-22. I also really like my Remington 700 Varment synthetic in .308. I recently got an HS PRecision in 300 Ultra and that is really nice.

THanks for the input.
I ended up settling on 90gr of RL22 with a 175 Match King for accuracy. I got a 5 shot group at .305 in. I don't think that there is any way I can shoot better than that. I' ...

The Savages are excellent guns. I do not own one, but I have shot a couple that will easily shoot under 1/2 MOA if the shooter does his part. With the Accu-Trigger Savage does have the best trigger o ...

Kibis,

The difference in velocty is about 20FPS per inch of barrel. That means about 120fps between a 20 inch and a 26 inch barrel. Last spring I was at a precision rifle course where some guys w ...

Balaso,

The .260 Remington is an excellent all around cartridge. It's based on the .308 case so there's plenty of brass around if you handload. The .308 case is one of the mose efficent and inher ...
