That's a great fun story. Last time I tried to help someone like this, was on a Chukar hunt in the Utah west desert. We had limited success but it was nice being outdoors.

I've started getting into bullet casting, primarily because odd calibers are really hard to find, or overly expensive. These were my first try, a few tiny blemishes that a paper target won't notice.
