I don't know about you guys, but I don't see one unhappy face on any of those dogs. Smiles on everyone of those beautiful animals. As George20042007 would say..."Keep it Coming". MORE PHOTOS..........

When we were in the mountains with the horses my brother's siberian, Sasha, would get her saddle bags and take them to my brother. We knew it was time to saddle up and go...Yup...She carried her own food on her back.

I've got a Husky and his idea of a stroll is going to the next county. They are great lovable dogs and all they want to do is run and get a workout. Great pictures!! Wish I could hook my dog up to the team and let him have at it.

I'm very glad you all like the photo's of the event. I may just have to buy a few more of the letters for next year's event to send to you all. Here's a few more pictures.
This is one of two 15-16 year old girls that ran the event.
Another town shot in Barkerville
This fellow has either already qualified for or is in the process of qualifying for the Iditarod in Alaska. This team really could move I tell ya.
I'll post a few more pics later.

That puppy will get bigger and then be allowed to play with the other dogs

Well, another year and more sled dogs are going to be carying the mail up here in the wilds of BC. Here's a link to the official site. www.dogsledmailrun.ca
These are this years envelopes that the dogs will be carrying. The envelopes are in memory of the fellow in the picture. He died this past summer in an terrible skidder accident. The story is at the website.

I had a team of eleven Siberian Huskies Grant.
They were slow, but would go anywhere, and pull big loads.
I finally had to give them, and my gear away, because of the cost of keeping them.
50# of dog food every three days, vet bills, and the clean up was a full time job, with no extra time.
My sled and most of the dogs went to Alaska with some Mushers that I knew.
At that time, we had the Ely All American Sled Dog Races, and I had the privilege of becoming friends with George Attila, Doc and Mrs. Lambard, and many other great Mushers. The hounds and mixed breeds were way too fast for me to run my team in the races, but I was an official, and on the Sled Dog Committee.
George's team was the ugliest bunch of dogs that I have ever seen, but they were bred for speed, and tough as nails.
Your pictures bring back many good memories.
What a guy misses in a pictures are the sounds of the dogs yipping, and barking. The smells, and just hearing a team running in the snow.
Have fun this year, and post some pictures please.
Good Sledding,
Eric

Gidday Grant...how are you mate?
I'm sure I looked at these pics last year, but looking at them now is like seeing them for the first time...they are magnificent pics of both the dogs and the scenery.
Cheers, Vince
