The Food Stamp Program, administered by the U.S. Department of Agriculture, is proud to be distributing the greatest amount of free meals and food stamps ever this past year.
Meanwhile, the National Park Service, administered by the U.S. Department of the Interior, asks us to "Please Do Not Feed the Animals."
The NPS stated reason for the policy is: because the animals will grow dependent on handouts and will not learn to take care of themselves.
This ends today's lesson.
Happy 4th of July to all!!!

Thats the world we live in.
Too bad they (government) didn't read the Bible for a small piece of advice.

ITD we here in NZ have a similar version.
give a man a fish and he will eat for a day
teach a man to fish and he will spend his days lazing around on the boat drinking beer and telling tall tales!!!!!

Elvis,
I thought that was what it was all about! Cause I sure don't catch many fish.
10% of fishers/hunters get 90% of the catch!

Thank you SlimJ!! Please put that on billboards across America. A sign at Disney Land says 'please enjoy all the rides', personally I'm tired of going down hills all the time, can't we go back to the ups and downs again? some nice twirling arounds and happy surprises would be nice for a change.

Ah welfare.
It can be a bit of a 2 edged sword and some will ALWAYS abuse it,99% dont.
The economy in the US atm basically sucks, if there is NO work, if you are a good little drone in the current economy model ie up to your neck in debt for house/car etc and are really struggling to cover the basics, I feel that welfare is a better option than crime. Its also a reflection on a society on how well they look after their less fortunate members..
Now its all well and good for you hairy chested survival of the fittest, america the land of opertunity, get off your fat arse and work advocates to sit back and mutter about welfare, but the sad fact is this isnt the 70's, entire cities are declaring bankrupcy, and we are now suffering from the profit at all cost mentality, you know that mentality, the one that caused the GFC and sent your manufacturing job to china because its cheap and they dont have to conform to union or safety rules.
Seems we do reap what we sow.

who says that it has to be a government function to take care of the less fortunate members of a society? I think charitable organizations do a much better job. Govt welfare has turned out just another way for politicians to buy votes - millions of them.

The problem with wellfare is that there are generations of families on it. They have no desire to change and don't know how to work.
It's a government inspired addiction and the more people on it the fewer tax payers there are. GEE, I wonder why taxes keep going up?
Families are supposed to take care of their own - those without family have a church or friends, those that have no one probably deserve it.
love ya all,
Paul

kinda reminds me of the boat peoples latest trick to get into the land of Oz . lets all jump in a boat then call the life guard and say we are in trouble.
that way they get a free ride in. pity the life guard isnt allowed to just sink them or tow them back to where they came from!!!!

Can't they just forward the call to the "country of origin"?

Kinda reminds me that, when folks talk about how terrible the US is, I've never seen anyone trying to escape. Now I have seen companies and rich folks leave because of the high taxes but never any "ordinary" folks.

My wife wants to find an "uncharted island" so we can buy it and make our own country. we can set up the government and require folks to have guns. No taxes, politicians, or infringement on personal freedoms - other than be nice to your neighbors. (they might be able to help the next time you need it)
