And we will have to bail you out again like we did in WWII during the Lend Lease program. Delboy...I DO feel sorry for you, but some how I believe that you and everyone else in Briton allowed this to happen. Even in Australia. although it isn't as bad there as it is in England. Let us pray that we, as Americans, can keep our 2nd amendment alive and as unrestricked as possible. (It is getting harder to Keep and Bare arms.)

You can bare arms all you want, what's getting hard is bearing arms.
As for Delboy being part of the problem, I have to ask how much time have you spend in the UK? If Delboy and everyone at his shooting club all their parents, spouses, children, grandchildren, brothers, sisters, aunts, uncles, neices, nephews, and first cousins got together it would be just about equal to the entire body of conservative people in the country.
Imagine an entire country like PRK and NY - that's the UK.

Delboy,
During my career working for an international company, I've had the pleasure of hosting some of my counterparts from Slough. At evening dinners we discussed varoius subjects including firearms and crime. Although we had very civil discussions, they seemed to be convinced restricting firearms and their use was a good thing. Is that the general feeling through out the UK?
Just wondering...
Bill

Must find out how to do this "quote" bit - screwed it up last time!
Grimel, loved that 'bare arm/bare ass' bit! And I thought I was the one who took the piss.........
Bill, since a shitload of schoolkids got shot in a place called Dunblane - a "kneejerk" reaction set in and all handguns were banned. This is the universal panacea over here, if something goes tits upwards - ban it! It was a fu***ng good job he didn't beat them to death with a cricket bat - but then maybe it was a pity he didn't! (My own twisted logic - I don't like cricket) This was preceeded by a nutter blowing people away in another place called Hungerford a few years before the last one. This led to the banning of all semi-automatic rifles. People over here cannot distinguish between guns killing people and people killing people. A gun placed on a table becomes a very expensive paper weight, nothing more, a gun (on it's own) has - to my knowledge - never shot anyone. There is GREAT prejudice over here against guns, they are nasty dangerous things and should be banned completely. Unfortunately, criminals don't share this point of view - or apply for licences. This leads to punitive measures being taken against sensible law abiding individuals as the politicians need to be seen to be 'doing something' about gun crime. The more they can take from us, the more they can crow about having 'got more guns off the streets'. In actual fact, they have done f**k all to get guns off the streets but it looks that way on paper. The actual criminals are left alone as they are too hard to catch, whereas we are already on file and obedient.
We had a march against the ban on foxhunting a couple of years back and three quarters of a million people turned out on the streets of London. The result......... we were completely ignored. Politicians the world over pay lip service and then do what suits them best to keep their priveliged positions.

Hello Delboy,
It's much better in the States than in Canada in that I cannot go out and buy an M-16 or most other "black guns." They are restricted for military and police use. Granted, you guys have some of the most idiotic gun laws on the planet. I couldn't survive in the UK, wouldn't want to. Best wishes.

Delboy,
Don't forget the retarded doctor over there who is trying to start up on long kitchen knives due to the number of stabbings. He talked to the best chefs and they have no need for a long knife (this I doubt since the 8" chef's knife is about the most popular kitchen knife ever made, not to mention carving knives). I wonder if he asked them what was a long knife. I wonder if this moron stopped to consider what damage was done to a body during surgery with a very small blade.
Do I correctly recall, that any locking knife and any knife bigger than a pen knife is considered an offensive weapon in the UK?
g <- too lazy to look it up.

Hi Grimmy (or should that be Grimey?), situation here is no lock blades at all, no penknives over 3.5" blade, no hidden knives of ANY kind (belt buckle, etc.) if carrying a penknife - a lawful reason must be given if questioned about it, e.g. using it for work. In fact, ANYTHING that can (or is) used as a weapon is construed as an offensive weapon. Case in fact: A year or so back a young woman was attacked on the street and beaten for her handbag (purse over there, I think). Three months later whils walking home from the station after work, a man came up behind her and grabbed her by the shoulder. She pulled out a small can of hairspray and let him have it in the face. He had mistaken her for someone he knew (that's what he claimed). She was fined $1700 (£1000) and given a 3 month suspended prison sentence. He got $4375 (£2500) from the Criminal Injuries Compensation Board - despite the fact that he had about 10 previous convictions for mugging and lived some 10 miles away (so how would he know her?)
If I wanted to kill someone, the fact that I was restricted to a 3.5" blade would matter not one iota - I could do it with a ball point pen, but then that would become............................. You're ahead of me here, aren't you?
The upshot of all this is - if mugged or attacked, CALL THE POLICE! It doesn't matter that they won't turn up for half an hour, that's the way to go! RIGHT! Anyone mugs me will be lucky to get away with all their limbs/teeth intact! I'd rather be tried by twelve than carried by six! In South Africa I carry a Bowie knife with a TWELVE INCH blade! Useless, I know - but it sends out a certain message. It's totally legal there and there are very few stabbings - probably due to the plethora of illegal AK47's, etc. that are kicking around out there. A couple of years back I nearly bought an AK with 2 full mags for - are you ready for this - $17!!!! Only reason I didn't is that it wouldn't fit under my jacket! Naughty Naughty!!
