I'm looking for a reduced load(s) (recoil) for a Remington 7600, 30-06 with 19 in barrel. I've been reading on other sites about using 165 and 170 gr bullets but need info on powder charges. I have a bad shoulder having had 2 surgeries and do not want to give up the 7600. Any info would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

I have no first hand experience with reduced loads but I did a google search and there are many articles with load suggestions. Here is the search link for "30-06 reduced loads". Even some 'Factory Reduced Recoil Ammo'.

The Hodgdon has 'youth loads' on their website using H4895 powder.

The best and most accurate powder I have tried in reduced loads is Blue Dot. If you go over to forums.accuratereloading.com/eve and do a search for "Blue Dot" or post a question, you will find a lot of info on the "Blue Dot" loads. I have tried Blue Dot in my 30-06, 7MM-08 and 7.62x39. They have all been a blast to shoot and very very accurate. I have also tried reduced loads using H4895 and SR 4759, they work OK but they are not near as accurate as the Blue Dot loads.

Hogdon's "youth loads" are awesome! In the /06 they'll use the 130 Hornady SSP(single shot pistol interlock) and will make a nice 200 yard deer rifle with much reduced recoil. I'm "thinking" that is what you're looking for?? If not let us know, and we'll try to help!

I'm getting old enough that I don't really enjoy heavy recoil. It isn't that I can't take it, it's just that I don't feel like I have to take it!
I shoot reduced loads and/or cast loads in several chamberings and it was Seafire, on the old Accurate Reloading forum, that got me started with his Blue Dot loads.
In the .30-06 case, 22.5 gr of Blue Dot is about a 40% load. That means it is 40% of the total weight of Blue Dot that the case will hold when filled to the case mouth and struck off level. The 165 gr or 170 gr bullets will work with 22.5 gr.
Depending on the gun and the shooter, 1"-1 1/2" groups at 100 yards are the high norm (sometimes a gun will do better).
I think #1 son's 7mm Mag will shoot 3/4" at 100 yards with 27.5 gr Blue Dot and 140 gr bullets and he took a deer with that load last year.
There are a lot of different powders that can be used and many are listed on this site that caters to CAS shooters. I think you'll have to select the .30-06 on the left side bar. Just remember CAS shooters use cast bullets when you're looking at these loads.

Here is the link for Hodgdon's Youth Loads
www.hodgdon.com/data/y.../index.php
From their site:
Hodgdon Powder Company has developed the following reduced loads for youth and beginning shooters for use on deer and similarly sized game animals. The bullets chosen were originally designed for single shot pistols and their lower velocities. These loads have been developed to closely approximate those pistol velocities in rifles, and therefore, similar performance on game animals. This provides our young and beginning shooters with loads effective to 200 yards with minimal recoil.
For all cartridges we chose H4895 because it is the slowest burning propellant that ignites uniformly at reduced charges. For years, H4895 has been the top choice by cast bullet shooters. For this type shooting, loads are reduced even more than the hunting loads listed herein. To create loads of this type for target and plinking, we recommend our 60% rule with H4895. By taking the maximum charges listed in our Annual Manual with any given cartridge and multiplying it by 60%, the shooter can create a 1500 to 2100 fps load, depending on the bullet weight shown. This works only where H4895 is listed. Do not use H4895 in a cartridge where it has not been shown.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
On the left you can choose the caliber you wish(30/06)..FWIW
