Let's see...The major aminal problem around here. The usual group. Raccoons, oposums, armadillos, cicadas, an assortment of large prehistoric flying bugs (they chase bats), foxes, an occasional coyote wondering through and bobcats. A few new ones added thanks to MDC (Missouri Department of Conservation), bears (from Georgia) elk and cougar (from the north country). Once in a great while a californian will rear it's ugly head up. And no swamps here. Just lagoons.

The rest are non-consiquencial.

wtf THIMC-I got home from the city last night @ about 9pm from seeing an old shootin buddy. When I got out of the door long enough to carry in some fire wood I was greeted by some lonely coyote barking, and howling about 100 yards from me.I barked back and this continued for about 5 minutes. Now I'm sure my neighbors on both sides of me would not have been real impressed-cause they have cattle and sheep in their pastures-but it was kinda fun nonetheless.I only shoot them in the winter when their pelts are prime and they cause livestock problems with calving and lambing-the rest of the year they are getting mice, gophers, ground sqirrels, and house cats.So they do perform a service also!Problem we have found around these parts is when you kill all of the coyotes the cougars have a tendency to move in a stay a little while! And we've also found that when the coyotes are scarce for a while-that means their is a cougar working the area.We would willingly send all of the californicators to live with Bushy tho! Laughing

Big bugs? Yes they are! In the barn? Turn on a light to read and here they come.

TRBLSHTR...Don't forget. I'm one of you. I just migrated to Missouri. I was born in Portland. Raised in Metzger and Tigard.

"I only shoot them in the winter when their pelts are prime "

Prime or not, if I get the cross hairs on it, it's dead.

Odd stuff. One part of the country they are pests. Other parts they are reveared. Same with bobcats (I personally love bobcats, wicked cool stuff).

Treehuggers living in 2mil$ custom canyon homes here love them yotes..."ooooh, ooooh, looky, nature!". Right up untill one snatches up their cat and jumps back over the fence w/ lil Jonny watching or shreds the family wiener dog to bits during a BBQ.

I see one out bird hunting I get nervous. Predator starts tracking me in the flats I'm switching loads to the hot stuff in my pocket.... one of us aint goin' home if he gets much closer. Couple sabot rounds his way outta neutalise his attitude.

Good points on the cats too...this wash last weekend? Saw a yote clear out of it, then we dropped in and back tracked, then, ran into some big cat tracks. Hmmmm....turned around and went back watching each others back... got kinda narrow and twisty before we turned around so it was no way Jose.....

stovie get yourself some #7 buckshot bud. 30 odd balls of around .22 calibre will take care of that problem with a lot more authority than #3 steel. I usually carry 2 or 3 buckshots and we dont even have nasty( 4 legged) critters over here in Godzone!!

Oh yeh- copy that. #3 Kents are in the vest and usually just for jack's or ducks only...whats in my pocket goes everywhere. #2 or 3 buck ( I think?) or slugs, I'll give the #7 buck a try too, never have any of that stuff here so I grab the heavy defense stuff off the shelf. Funny people laugh at the little 20g till I lettum get a taste of the heavy stuff and it's all WHOA! That's a 20g? While they rub thier cheek. Laughing
