Ah, ok...so you will be wanting a Gunsmith in our part of the world rather than the US mate.

If you don't have someone that you know or trust...let me know and I'll put some feelers out down this way mate. I have a number of friends who have their finger on the pulse and usually know who is who in the zoo.

Off the top of my head though...I would recommend MAB at Everton Hills. He has been building barrels of all types for many years...from hunting to match and everything in between. A mate down here had his Ruger barreled about 9 months ago and he did a magnificent job...and the price was quite reasonable for the work he did...well under $1,000.

Cheers, Vince

OK, what did you decide to do? Caliber, barrel length, twist rate, etc?

why not go the extra and get suppressed barrel fitted?? the cost in kiwi land is $400 ish and around $625 for re barreling so around $1000 would be about right.

Elvis,
here in Oz, suppressed stuff is highly illegal.. NoNo
The best legal Deal way you can do is to try to slow the pellets to subsonics.
And thats exactly what I am trying to do with my 300 Whisper and 45-70.

Keep in mind, the new barrel will most likely have a different profile. So some stock work will needed as well. Either pillar bed or glass bed the action. While your at it how is your trigger. A perfect time to have it improved as well. After all you will want a shooter when your done.
