i got rabbit with a bb gun 4yds away,dobled lunged it and it jumped in the air and ran 10 ft and stood up for a sec and drop dead

Yep...that's a good idea Mullet....but I much prefer a single shot .22 with subsonic rounds.

The .22 subsonics hit harder than a pellet gun and you can afford to sit off a fair bit further. This way the bunnies don't necessarily see you, or if they do, they don't equate you to their buddies lying belly up all over the place. Very Happy

The rabbits here in Australia are a lot different to your cottontails. Ours live in burrows we call a warren and you can have as many as 25 at a time sitting on top of their warren. If they are startled, they dart into the nearest hole. After a while they send out a "scout" and if all is clear he lets them know with a series of "foot stamps"...likewise if it isn't clear.

Vince, in PA (and here) rabbits are game animals with specific seasons.

Ah, ok understood. Over here in Australia it is illegal to even have one as a pet in some places.

They are feral vermin that were introduced 200 years ago and still they multiply, even after assaults of myxomatosis and Calisi Virus.
