Oh happy day.

Been couped up for over 6 weeks since sholder surgery. I'm really burned out on just doing therapy and sitting around doing nothing. A week ago doc said I'm fine, short of falling on it or lifting something heavy over my head I aint gonna screw it up but, no Moto, shotguns etc...take it easy.

New M&P 15-22 has been in the safe since 3 days after getting cut. Daring me. Begging me. I took the bait last night.
Headed to my local indoor pistol range with a brick of Remington Golden Bullet- if it'll run on this crap it'll run on anything pert near I 'spoze.
20y, indoor, wire's on trolleys. Not the greatest for zeroing but...I gotta shoot sumpin' or I'll blow a gasket.
Had to modify my grip and use the fore-grip more, right arm still kinda weak and wasn't diggin' holding the gun up during mag swaps, so, I just rested it on the table. Did some snap-shooting too and kept my groups around 6-8" so not too bad having never shot it before and a bum shoulder. I was sore and in a little pain after but...ice and a pill, GTG. No sorer than I am after therapy. If I keep my arm close to my bod and dont lift heavy stuff it's fine. Just don't tell my doc!

Half a brick through it.
Not one stoppage.
Pin strikes are crisp.
Sucker is stupid accurate w/ bunk bulk ammo. Note- this stuff is usually dud-filled. Every box I've ever had has a lot of duds. I get it cuz it's cheap and readilly available here. I was very suprised to see this thing ate it all as this ammo is on the NOT recomended list for this gun in the OM.
Charging handle works. So does the bolt-stop.
Safety snaps on and off- good to go. I got lazy a couple times. Very positive stop so...don't be lazy and it won't hang ya out to dry.
Trigger's not horrible- which is usually not the case on a lot of these "toy" guns. It's gonna get better after it marries. Could be good with some stoning. It's fine for me and will make no difference. I forgot my scale so...sorry.
Tasco Red Dot: works. Dot is ugly. 5 MOA and fuzzy.39$. As expected. Funny thing is I've had it on and off at least 3 times since purchase- and, it was SPOT ON. Didn't have to adjust anything. Go figure. 1/2" riser if perfect for co-witness of the MBUS. Too dark to use MBUS so...that'll have to wait.
(2) 10-rd mags I got from the factory are WAY better than the pile of crap that came with it. The mag they sent with it is that blocked banana POS with no load assist. It's junk and I'll never use it, it don't feed for jack and impossible to load. It's in the trash can at the range. The short 10-rd S&W accesorry mags are great, load in a jiff and never failed once. Why they didn't send these instead I'll never know. I'm getting more and send them a letter about this. Obviously a coporate idiot trying to justify his diploma. There's no reason to ship a nice shooter with a total POS mag like that blocked POS banana mag. I could go on but I won't.
It feels good in hand. It comes up nice. It never stops. It's stupid accurate. What more do ya want?
It's gonna be killer in the field.
I'm gabbin' my Rattler's and going bush-kickin' soon. I'm a happy camper.
It'll be forever till I shoot shotty or centerfire anything, ferget about Kabong or trap. I'm glad I have this and the SA-22 S&W pistol to play with to get me through this tough spot. Thank God, again, for the .22LR.

Here's a pic of a random rested target-16mm group. These are hung from wires on trolleys so...and the blowers were going, and I aint no bench-rester, and the dot is 5MOA. Zat enough excuses?
Plus of pic of the piece with the 1/2" riser and Blackhawk! QD SP sling with a MASH hook and matching MOE foregrip.

Wee! I got shoot something! Almost as much fun as eating.

I'm very pleased with this carbine.

I was a little aprehensive at first, lotta dough for a fun gun in this caliber.
But- as with most things, ya never know till ya use it.

It exceeded my expectations.

stovey, don't stone the trigger. These are AR mil-spec components. After a thousand rounds or so, it will be smooth. I run all my AR triggers though my M&P 22LR to break them in then transfer them to my ARs. I have had good results with the "15-minute" trigger mod.

I was hoping you'd say exactly that cuz that's exactly what I thought. I do not plan on messing with it.

Thanks for the info, and, the lead on them stubby mags. Man they made a world of difference!!!

If you use this AR 22LR to build muscle memory and habit patterns for shooting full-power ARs, it pays for itself every 1200 rounds. Because it replicates the feel and operation of an AR, it is a bargain!

Oops, that is based on the costs here in Texas. Not sure what you have to pay on the left-coast.
