Hope all is well down there, some horrific pictures shown on TV here in the States. Expecially with people trapped in some of the buildings still.

death toll up to 92 with 100s still missing.
things are not flash but the international help is plurry amazing.

Endless thoughts and prayers for our KIWI cousins coming from your Aussie cousins guys. My heart goes out to you all. The death toll is terrible and from all accounts is only going to get worse.

The pictures and the telecast show that Christchurch has been devastated by this latest earthquake. It is interesting that the majority of the buildings that have suffered the most horrific damage are those constructed during the 1960's. Buildings that were built prior to that have generally fared well, and certainly much better than those constructed later, according to the news we are getting.

I am glad that both Radar and Elvis are safe...although with Radar being on the North Island I knew he would be right...Just not sure where you are Elvis, so that was a concern mate.

they are still searching but havent dug out any survivers for a while Sad

we have 320 police from Aussie( these guysngals got a standing ovation at the airport)
Japan has sent search teams
U.S.A have sent search teams
U.S.S.R have search teams
Taiwan have search teams
medicle staff and recovery teams from all over have turned up
most countries have poured money back in this direction to help out
the interpol guys are over here helping with body identification.
the international help is enableing everyone to get on with the job and the numbers let people rest as there is others to take over
We live 160kms south and our city is chocker block with people we went up town saturday morning and it was as busy as christmas time people everywhere.

The international response to this terrible disaster has been magnificent for sure Elvis.

The aussies have also sent the Fire Brigade Rescue team with sniffer dogs, also Defence Force personnel to assist the KIWI Defence Force people. The Aussie and KIWI Defence Force have always had a very close working relationship since Gallipoli in WW I when the name ANZAC was coined.

Terrible as it sounds, I think the death toll will only rise from this point on...I think the possibility of finding anyone else alive under the rubble is getting extremely remote. Very sad.

death toll 160 now still lots missing. the chances of anymore survivers are getting very slim.the news lastnight had a feature on "earthquake migration" people are getting out of CHCH in droves and going to towns and cities where ever they can. its like christmas time for retailers with all the extra shoppers here in Timaru. I was having my morning log book break/snooze in my truck yesterday and a gust of wind shook it!!!! wide awake and quivering in a instint and I wasnt even near CHCH when the big one hit. everyones nerves are a little strung out no wonder everyone wants out of the place...

Elvis, it sounds like the exit from New Orleans. Many people may not return. It may take years for CHCH to rebuild and recover its population.
