Wow, he didn't escape from one of those genetic camps you posted earlier?

Wow. I know that there are good size bucks on Long Island, I just didn't expect to see something like that. I wonder how old the buck was?

Yep...sounds like it might be the go mate. Talking to a mate who lives near Bellmore on Long Island, he said the deer are hard to get at right now...a mixture of snow and the deer moving deep into the pine forest. He says that it is just too close in there to see the deer. He missed out this year...was left with unfilled tags.

Also confirmed that these two are definitely Long Island deer, and the guys who took them are friends of my mate over there.

Long Island is a tough place to hunt. I did a couple of times, but public access is regulated, you have to check in with the Dept. of environmental conservation (DEC) and they assign you an area to hunt. I didn't hunt the same place twice that year, so you spend more time scouting, than hunting. There is private land , like farms, and vinyards, but unless you know the owners, you can't get on the property. The Pine Barrens (that's what we call them) can be really thick in places and you wouldn't see a deer until you tripped over him. Well, Regards to your mate in Bellmore, I'm a little further East, in Sayville.
