This type of abnormality happens quite often in snakes, but I've enever seen it in deer. I have forgotten the name for it, but I will look it up.

Very cool photos

He looks pretty chipper! Love the first pic.

Stealth deer. Factory equipped for undetected night-feeding.

Ya missed the stairs in front of the fence, BushGramps!

They were probably just goofing off and munching out in someone's front yard.

Front yard? If that's the case they need to mow their yard. A little trimming of the brush wouldn't hurt either.

It's a tall fence. Some kind of enclosure?

OMG....the rails on the step match the fence. It's obviously a front or back yard. Fence can't be more than 3-4' high.

Ya aint got no deer's in yer front yard? gottum all over the place in Montanny. Same fence almsot too!

Compare your SKINNY deer to the one in Joe's photos. And the fense is taller then 3-4 feet. That is a well fed doe that just had twins (so to speak). Yours is starving to death old and hoping you will either feed it or put it out of its misery.

And yes I do have deer, sqirrels, armadillos, oposums, rabbits, and coyotes running around or across my BACK yard. Oposums, squirrels armadillos and rabbits in my front yard. Oh...I forgot the roadrunners. Do you?

It's starting to look like I could have bear and cougar too.

Quote::
The images of the melanistic black fawn displayed above were taken from the web site of photographer Richard Buquoi (of R.M.Buquoi Photographics), who specializes in nature photography. In response to our query about the origins of these pictures, Mr. Buquoi told us:
Quote::
I can understand the curiosity from people of the highly melanistic black fawn images that we have on our website. They are a rare phenomenon to see. We're always happy to find someone who enjoys viewing our images as much as we enjoyed taking them.

I took the photos of the black fawn near Austin, TX. That area of central Texas seems to have a concentration of black "white-tailed" deer, although it is still extremely rare to find them. This is a wild deer, but resides in a greenbelt near a neighborhood. I took the images when the deer were roaming through the neighborhood. The two fawns in the photos are twins, but only the one is black. The images being circulated were taken in May [2010] and I again captured some images of them about seven weeks later which I added to our website. They are going to be published along with an article about "Melanism" in "Deer and Deer Hunting" magazine due out in September [2010].

I guess the magazine is probably on stands already. Actually I think my father gets this magazine. I'll have to check.

Dimitri
