Thanks Chambered! Very Happy

Guys, I didn't mean to hijack this very useful thread to air out my troubles. I was just letting you know that I plan to get down to business on this hunting thing before I get confined to quarters.

BTW...I'm playing hooky from work tomorrow. Nananana Hope I have something to report after that. Seems Wiersey is not forthcoming with any usefull mouth opening photos of extral large whitetail deer so I guess somebody else will have to do it. Poke

My gun cam fell apart from lack of recoil. I need to get the comfy deer stand chair out so I can nap in the stand. I have shot more then a few after waking from a nap.

Wiers you crack me up! I caught the nicest steelhead last year while I was sleeping! I anchored the boat in the river and sat back reading the Sat. paper, the boat was gently swaying side to side, that, and the newspaper made me sleepy and I nodded off, only to wake with my pole bouncing and line stripping off the reel so fast, (I think the whine woke me up ) that really got my heart started. Got the fish up to the boat but my lunge with the net spooked him too much and he got off the hook. Those things have so much power, even after a long fight and you think they're almost dead, they can come back to life and whip you like they're just getting started.

Oh I got a family like that too Wiersay...as they say mate..."You can pick your friends, but you can't pick your family."

My Dad had cancer twice TC...once was a Merkel's Cell Tumour...normally terminal...but he beat it with an op, chemo and radiotherapy, and he also has skin cancer, which he also beat.

Hang in there buddy...if mates pullin' for ya counts for anything, well, you got this thing beat already. Very Happy Very Happy

Cheers, Vince

Thanks guys. Your kind words mean alot to me. Cheers

Well, I played hooky today as promised. Got out early with the frost. Set up in one spot and called for coyotes with no response. Moved to the next which is ideal when the wind is out of the north. Well once I was set up, the wind shifted from the west, then the south, then the north again, then the south... Mad

So, with calling done for the day I started exploring. Found a spot in the National Forest where I came out on a wooded ridge which broke off into a cliff overlooking a large cattle ranch down in a creek drainage. Warm breeze blowing up from the creek. So here I was, sitting next to an old oak tree, 500 feet above the pastures, watching the cattle off in the distance, and listening to the waterfall somewhere below. Guess I stayed there over an hour. Couldn't get any better than that. Huntin' is great aint it? Smile

I have seen squirrels, turkeys, grouse, geese, and swans but no deer. I'm gonna try another spot tomorrow night. I only get about an hour after work so nothing major.

This work crap keeps getting in the way of my hunting. Something has got to give..... and it sure as hell aint the hunting. I think its time to hang my sign on my desk......."Having homicidal tendencies gone to therapy."
