Back on again. Yep you aussies and us kiwis love a cold one. Vince, you obviously know where I am and what hunting down under is all about. Shame our American cousins don't have it as good as we have. Further to my first line, my property backs onto a farm area where there Ducks, Pukeko (Swamp hens) Phesants rabbits and the odd wild cat. Paradise? well for this kiwi it's pretty close to being there.

Well....I'm off to the scrub tomorrow morning for 3 or 4 days....mainly bunnies, but I won't be above tappin' anything else that is feral and gets in my way...need a little roo meat too.
Gave some thought to dropping off down a little further South and see another mate about some fallow deer...but I won't have the room to bring the meat home this time...maybe next month.
Cheers, Vince |
Have a great hunt Buddy take pics we want to see pics

Good luck Vince an have a great few days.
I finally took a Mule deer today. After several spot and stalks and no results so far this year, why they call it Huntin and not Killin, I got a good chance today and took it.
It was rainy and windy all morning and I wasn't seeing anything. Finally about 10 am it stopped and the deer started to move. I was on my ATV when I spotted fresh tracks coming across the trail I was on. I got off my bike and moved up onto a ridge, there they were down the other side, three does and a two point buck. I got my shooting sticks, got the buck in the cross hairs and waited for a broadside shot. At about 175 yards, he finally turned. I held just behind the front shoulder and let my trusty old 303 British bark. The buck went about 15 yards and piled up. Then, it started to rain again...

I've yet to go hunting, but that's fixin' to change. I got up Saturday morning and about one-fourth of my back yard was rooted up by wild hogs (my back yard is about one-half of an acre). There were pits about 2 feet deep everywhere. I got my tractor and leveled it as good as you can do on a tractor, then got a rake and leveled it the rest of the way. Sunday morning, I got up and that area was completely torn up again, plus across the fence in a coastal Bermuda grass field and more areas in the field behind the house. After leveling it again, including the area across the fence, I went down to the Las Gallinas Creek and cleaned out and filled one of my feeders with corn. Yesterday evening I drove down there and found the area under the feeder to be torn up by hogs. I'm going to let them get comfortable coming to the feeder until Saturday morning, then it's my time to get my revenge. The only problem with hunting hogs, is that they like to move a lot at night, so day hunts can be kind of lean. I need to build a hog trap around the feeder.

How's this for fishing! It's worth looking at. Give it a minute to load.

I hate that when it happens. When two parts of a family can't get together on one thing and end up hurting others outside that waring family...Just tees me off no end...
I do feel sorry for the ones that thought it O K to give permission and have to take it back after the damage has been done...
