Yes this is very true. Both bayonets I own are not combination bayonet/utility knives however.

You want a useful bayonet - get a AK bayonet . It has a saw blade ,knife ,wire cutters and nail puller. I love mine

The AKM Type 1 bayonet:
 -
The saw was dropped on the AK74 models.
Similar to the issued M9 bayonet for the M16.

Good pics 'Mitri.
The M9 is the Buck Knife that the aussie Defence Force use as the F88 Austeyr bayonet.
This is the aussie bayonet:
and the Wire Cutter assembled:
overall, an excellent knife/bayonet.

Cleaning house some today and had to dig these out to move them. I thought about this topic and took some pics.
Here are some of the military knives/bayonets I have:
A USMC bolo, sheath dated 1945
Enfield bayonets. The top one, dated 1943, was found in a local barn and given to me. I bought the bottom one to go with a SMLE No. 1 Mk III.
The longer bayonet is in terrific condition, especially given the manufacture date.

Oh...We countin' bayonets too. O K...Here's my WWII Japanese bayonet take in the Philipine Islands by one of my uncles who was in the USMC. It is complete including the "frog".

Vince, I think the kukri is an issue item, stamped 1973 but I'll have to look again. Didn't come with a sheath, cost me $9 as I recall.

Vince, on one side of the kukri blade it's marked with an up arrow, "KFD" and "73". On the other side it's marked "INDIA". I assume the 73 is the year?
