I haven't seen Rose O'Donnell on TV lately.
Hey Hunter, you shoot old Rose!!!!!
She should have horns, because I think that she plays the "boy" part, if you know what I mean?
Did you get a surprise when you went to cut off the b.....
Never mind, I won't go there. Shocked

Down here in Texas we have an old saying: "Don't let the truth get in the way of a good story."

I met this man one time that had a gruesome looking scar on his forarm. The first thing I thought about was a lion, bear, wolf, or maybe even a chupacabra attack. I asked him about the scar, when my curiosity got the best of me. I was totally disapointed when he told me about an accident that envolved falling off of a garbage truck!!!!!!!!! I stopped him right there and told him that I didn't want to hear the remainder of the story; I didn't want to ruin the mood. Hey, he could have fallen on top of a lion, bear, wolf, or maybe even a chupacabra!

I also heard one one time that envolved a buck jumping out of the way of a 7mm magnum bullet and allowing a poor defenseless coyote (that just happened to be standing behind the buck) to take the brunt of the punishment. Needless to say, he ain't hunting with me anymore.

beinveinidos
on the las gallinas??? you're on the chickens??
where in Texas is the chickens?? assuming its a river?

take pictures if you can of that Chupacabra it could be the first one in history to be caught on film.
800 speed film is what i would recommend with night vision
mighty fast little buggers but the blood trail should be good enough for you to track them back to the den.

Thanks for the "Welcome" Bushmaster. I do drink an occasional beer, but I prefer iced tea. Contrary to popular belief, we don't all drink Lone Star Beer down here. I'd rather have a Shiner Bock, made in the little town of Shiner, Texas.

Keetoowah, thank you for the greetings. The Las Gallinas is a small seep-fed stream that crosses my ranch. I live about an hour south of San Antonio, at the edge of (what we call) the brush country.

The first Spanish explorers that came up through here named the creek the Las Gallinas. They saw a large flock of turkeys here and thought they were chickens. This was noted in an old diary written by one of the explorers.

There used to be a lot of Chupacabras down here (Or so I've been told). They must taste like chicken because they're all shot-out now. Heck, you don't even see tracks anymore. Heck, I don't even see anymore big foot tracks. I guess the wild hogs drove them out.

One of my neighbors woke up one morning and found that his two goats had been killed. They were in a 6 foot tall hog-wire pen. One was dead in the pen and the other was laying on the ground outside his bedroom window about 100 yards from the pen. There were puncture wounds on his neck. There were no drag marks or tracks around, or up to area he was found (this guy has no grass in his yard; his wife sweeps it everyday with a broom to remove the chicken doo doo) My neighbor told me that he figured that a Chupacabra grabbed him from the pen and flew over to the tree above his window and dropped him there.

Sounds like it's time for another Shiner Bock.

What does Keetoowah mean?

Sorry for the long windy letter; I write for a living and it just flows (or maybe I'm just windy).

Have a great day!

Nah Bushy.....I reckon we will all just have to lift our game a little....you know....bring our A game instead of our B game.

Welcome OntheLasGallinas...good to see ya aboard mate. grab a beer....don't matter what the brand....and bring an iced tea as well if thats what rings ya bell. Put a couplea stumps alongside that stream, sounds like a damn fine place for a gatherin' of hunters to ramble on and tell one another lies Shocked ...I mean swap hunting stories. Very Happy Very Happy

Nobody stretches the truth or facts around here....we just tell it as we choose to remember it. Very Happy Cool

Mate, from the sounds of things, your neighbour doesn't have a Chupacabra problem....it sounds more like a Yowie to me. He's killed the pigs in their pen....had a chomp on one, didn't like the taste so he hoiked it away. Decided that the other one was probably the same so left him where he lay. Typical Yowie style...wasteful buggers they are. Was wondering why I haven't heard anything of a Yowie over here in aussie for a while....reckon they've slipped off over to the USA to hunt a few porkers and terrorists whilst having a bit of a holiday.

Cheers, Vince

Last year one of my neighbors told me (and everyone else in my part of the county) that he looked out toward his chicken pens (after hearing a ruckus going on, and saw a tiger tearing up a coop and running off with one of his prize roosters (he raises about 200 fighting roosters). By the time he ran back in the house and came back with a rifle the tiger was gone. I pretty much laughed it off because the word for any big cat, in Spanish, is tigree (sp), which covers mountain lions. We've got a dozen of them running around (that's one of the reasons, I figure, we don't have many Chupacabras in this part of the state).

Pretty soon the word made its way up to the big city (San Antonio) and we got bombarded with calls from every newspaper reporter wanting to write a story about this escaped tiger. The story was getting windier. The next thing I know is I'm getting calls and letters from urban safari experts that want to come down to the ranch and solve my tiger problem. I methodically hung up on each and every one of them. My neighbor (the Chupacabra Man) told one of them he could come down to his place and lay out an ambush for the tiger. The next weekend this guy shows up with a rooster, walks back in the woods and ties this rooster (his bait) to a stake with some water and corn, within his reach. What compassion. He had planned to come back the next morning to catch the tiger coming back for seconds. After the raccoons finished telling their buddies that they found some chow in the woods that tasted like chicken, the safari expert came back with all kinds of wild tales about the tiger that stole his bait. I guess he though a tiger track look sort of like a raccoon’s. Thank goodness all of this bull died down. Now we can get back to the real serious problems, like putting up with left-over social misfits calling the newspaper every time they see a coyote with mange, claiming it’s a Chupacabra. But that’s another story, along with the Lechusa epidemic.

Have a great day!

Keetoowah is Cherokee for Nighthawk.
its the clan i belong to. Also the Keetoowah society were first strike when they went to war. like special forces.

do you eat at Mi Terra much or La Paloma Blanca down on the river??
Mi Terra used to be near the Market its been too long since Ive been down that way. Is it still there?

I lived in Dallas off and on for about 13 years.
San Antone is the only city in Texas i like.

shiner beer not pearl??
what do you write for a living??
Gato Grande is big cat too
thought cock fighting was illegal in Texas?

regards

Mi Terra is still there and it's a great place to eat. San Antonio is full of great places to enjoy Mexican food (Tex-Mex).

They are expanding the River Walk. It will be about 5 times longer when the project is completed.

I'm a scientist; I write research documents, reports, and papers. I also dabble in short stories and poetry. Not the typical thing you would expect from a life-long country boy. I've had people tell me that I don't look like a scientist. They tell me that I look more like an old farmer or rancher. I always ask them "What does a scientist look like." I guess I need to wear a white lab coat and comb my hair straight up like Einstein! I was a full time farmer for 20 years; I guess that look stuck.

As far as beer goes: I have a friend that told me that his doctor told him to quit drinking beer, it was frying his liver. He told me that he started drinking Pearl Light because that ain't beer. I don't know if they even make it anymore.

Cock fighting is illegal in Texas, but alive and well, especially in South Texas. The sheriff pretty much ignores it and concentrates on the drug trafficking through the county.

My great, great grandmother's last name was Walkingstick, of the east Texas Cherokees. She was married to my great, great, grandfather (a white man) so she wasn't forced to move to Oklahoma.

Have a great day!
