looking for any info anyone might have on cloning the leverevolution ammo.
i haven't found the bullets yet, nor can i figure the powder charge.
looks like 2 different types of powders.
not even sure if hornady is selling the bullets with the special tip yet.

Hornady will not sell the bullet for reloading, last I heard.

Hornady is NOT selling bullet components of the Leverevolution...Last time I talked to them they said that it will be several years before they do that...

By the way...dcoates18481...Welcome to this fine site...

Why...I was under the impression that you reloaded...Have you ever tried to load pointed bullets in the 130 grain to 165 grain SPFB bullets by Sierra? You can use the load data of the flat point bullets and work up to a safe load. Just be sure you don't load them in the tubular magazine Winchester or Marlin. You load the pointed bullet cartridge, by hand, into the chamber and load a couple of flat pointed cartridges in the tube...

yeah i do some reloading, i just like the idea of having a number in the tube mag.
i've tried the pointed bullets singly, and they do fine.
i just like the hornady ammo is all...not the price so much.

Just thought I'd ask. Even if Hornady was to come out with just the bullets I doubt I would buy them just for the reason that I can load a pointed bullet for my .30 WCF Mod 94. Even at .30-30 velocities they will open up well on game. The other idea of making a short range rifle into a long range rifle is not what I call a good idea anyway. The .30 calibre lever guns do their best at 100 yards +/- 50 yards and no more or less.

I looked into this when the ammunition first hit the Market.
When I first inquired about the bullets, my Hornaday dealer contacted Hornaday and they stated that at that time the demand for the ammunition depleted the bullet supply to the point where they could not make enough for just the sale of the bullet.

When I researched the powder, it appeared it was a new powder, allowing them to get the velocity with out the pressures. Similar to the concept of their new light magnum loads. It will be some time before the powder information is let out.

I have heard of people dissecting the leverevultion ammo for the bullets and the reloading them to fit their firearms. I did not undertake this endeavor, and have left it to the more seasoned reloaders, for the sake of cost and the experience for loading for an unpublished bullet, powder, and primer combination.

I'm sure it's possible to achieve satisfactory results, but I feel at this time it may be difficult to completely duplicate the loading.

I have heard wind of a new loading from Winchester for the .30-.30 which appears may use a Nosler bullet. I am not sure of the details and have not been able to find anything more than a little blurb in a gun magazine. It may be of interest to look into it.

My question is, why can't you simply get a polymer tipped bullet and load it for a levergun. Isn,'t that all Hornady did? The Hornady A-Max, V-Max, Interbond and SST are all poly tipped.

i checked that too...the leverevolution bullet tip is quite a bit softer than a similar tipped bullet.
but it does snap back to a pointed shape if compressed..

The Leverevolution bullets have a VERY soft tip, not like the hard polymer tips in the SSTs, etc.
