Fellers,

Just got my Super Blackhawk (.44 mag) back from the factory.

I've had that pistola more than 20 yrs, well-worn, nicked, dinged, and rusted (from a costly lesson about sticking a cold pistol under the seat of a warm truck!)

Sent it in because the only mechanical problem I've ever had with it was just recently--the ejector rod/housing came off during a hot session, and I can't silver-solder...

Opened the box, and almost cried! "This ain't mine! They sent me a new one!" Huh--looked at the serial #, and guess what! It was mine!

They replaced the ejector rod & housing, the hammer, and the rear sight, and put some beautiful new grips on it (sent my old ones back, to boot!) Completely refinished it, stem to stern--you gotta look real hard to see the old rust pits, and some were deep!

No charge.

While I may not line up with their extremely anal safety policies, and their philosophy of compromise to the anti-gunners, I have to say their customer service is above and beyond!

Well, I needed to "plug" 'em somewhere, and since I'm probably not the only Ruger owner on this forum, there ya have it!

Happy shooter here, guys...

Be Safe, Have Fun!

I bought a 30-06 M77MkII because it is a cheap LH bolt and CR. It was $5-10 more than the RH one beside it. Unlike Remington ($80 diff), Browning (also $80), and Winchester (don't ask!), and it's a field grade not a shiny POS.

So far it's LOVE. I'll let you know if it's lucky or not this fall.

Wow nice to hear they stand behind their products.

Other companies I worked with, with similar outstanding results: Leupold and Thompson Center. Leupold replaced a broken scope a horse kicked and broke in half, T/C for replacing an entire caplock action I shattered when I tripped on a loose rock and landed on the gun, on a rock (I called asking if I could buy the broken pieces, they said "just send us your action" I replied saying well its all in pieces, they said "fine, just stick them all in a ziplock and mail it. 2 weeks later a brand new action shows up in the mail free.

Back on subject, you better post a pict of the refurb'd pistol now!!!

That is the advantage of buying Real American!
I have received replacement parts, cost free, question free, and hassle free, from both Ruger, T/C, and Brownells.
Customer service makes customers!... a thought much lost on todays international companies.

It's good to see that Ruger did right by you. We hear so many stories today of gun companies that just don't seem to give a damn. Lousy customer service almost seems to be the norm. A big Hooray for Ruger!
Best wishes.

Well, I received a letter from Ruger today with a Ruger patch. I filled the comments section when I sent the warrenty paperwork in on my M77.

The letter thanks me for being satisfied with the M77. Moreso, they say they have forwarded the comments to the production department.

I can't see me buying another M77 unless I want an action for say a 338-06 because I can't see me ever wearing out a 30-06. I do have a Blackhawk and 22 auto pistol on my short list.

A big fan of the Blackhawk and the M77 MK II, I just had to revive this thread.

I don't think you can still expect no-charge repairs anymore though - well, at least when the damage was obviously your fault. My neighbor accidentally misread his reloading manual and went 2 grains over max ( If I remeber right, this was H 4350 ) - way hot for a .223 He was shooting this from a brand new Ruger Hawkeye. The trigger sear was broken, but no injury. He returned the rifle to Ruger for repair and they replaced the sear and bolt. Cost was $300.00 for the repairs.

I'm guessing that Ruger (as so many other manufacturers do) opted to exercise their warning that shooting reloads through their firearms void all warrantys. Just a guess, but since they have no control over reloading habits, components and expertise, no company wants to leave that particular door open.

The last experience I had with Ruger repairs, a few years back, was very positive. I had knocked the front sight off my Vaquero at a CAS match by banging it against a table. I told them up front that it was totally my fault but they repaired it for free.

I can see where they'd charge for damage done by a handload since they have a section in the owner's manual about that. "We specifically disclaim responsibility for any damage or injury whatsoever occurring in connection with, or as a result of, the use in any Ruger firearms of faulty, or non-standard, or "remanufactured", or hand-loaded (reloaded) ammunition, or of cartridges other than those for which the firearm was originally chambered." You couldn't expect a gun manufacturer, or any other manufacturer, to cover under warranty things that are totally out of their control.

Dam, if we from Oz here send any gun back to factory, even if the refurbishment is free,
the cost of delivery and red tapes would be HIGHER than the cost of buying a new similar gun.

I am green with envy... Very Happy

Just to be clear...my comments were in no way against Ruger. To the contrary, I have nothing but warm and fuzzy feelings about most Ruger products. Aside from a couple Remingtons and a custom '03 Springfield, all the rest of my rifles are Rugers as well as all of my single-actions.
